I've never used the Cricut Vinyl before. I want to take a serving tray that has a glass bottom and use the vinyl to add my last name on the underside so that that when you look down onto the tray you can see the glass and my last name. To accomplish this I'd have to reverse the font and attach the letters backwords on the glass. Obviously what would be showing is not the front of the letters, but the sticky part that is attached to the glass. I am doing this so as to preserve the vinyl, so that food and drinks if spilled will get on the glass not the vinyl underneath. My question is, is the vinyl the same color on the sticky side as on the front and will this look ok or will you be able to tell that it is the sticky side. I hope I am explaining this right....

You're explaining it right and I've wondered the same thing! From everything I've read though if you use outdoor vinyl on top of the glass it should be ok. That's what they use on coasters and I've even heard of people putting it on glasses and running it through the dishwasher. I haven't tried it yet though. Good luck! be sure and post a picture after you do this. Sounds pretty!!

Yes, you are correct to flip the letters but if you type them backwards first then you can lift (transfer) all the letters at the same time so you do not have to worry about lining them up with each other.... (is that clear as mud??)
It is the same color on the sticky side. I personally do not use cricut vinyl on anything that might be washed. I use outdoor vinyl or more durable vinyl.

I do want to point out that IF you get lucky & find some free outdoor vinyl from a sign company, be sure to check the backside of that vinyl to see if it is, in fact, the same color as the front. I had this happen to me & had half a window done before I realized that it was brown on the back instead of white, like the front.  I just ordered outdoor vinyl from H&H & it is the same color on both sides, just like the vinyl that Cricut markets.

I want to mention that applying vinyl to the backside of glass is probably not a good first project. It is difficult to get the bubbles out so they don't show on the adhesive side. It takes some practice to master that. Have you considered etching the tray instead of applying vinyl?
