I just got a Cricut cake mini. I bought a "sugar sheet" to play with and it cut awesome!!! Too bad the sugar sheet tastes disgusting. I'll have to see if my kids disagree. ANYWAY...while I was playing I stuck in a sliced piece of cheddar and cut an adorable heart! Perfect for kids lunches!!!! Anyone try anything else? Other than fondant, gum paste, etc?
I'm thinking I might get some thicker cut meat from the deli and try that next. Not sure bread would go thru there though...hmmm

You are dead on about the sugar sheets! They sure look good, but taste like paper. Other than fondant, I've tried pie pastry, which worked great. I cut some leaves at Thanksgiving to put around my pecan pie and it was beautiful. I have also cut candy clay which worked great, too.

If you taste the sheets by itself, too me, it does not taste well. However, when the sheet is eaten with the icing, it blends in and you usually cannot taste the sheet. If you have ever eaten a cake with a photo on top of a cake, a sheet is used and you cannot taste it or are you able to tell that it is a sheet on top of the cake. I think in the below thread there might be other things that the Cake has cut. http://main.cricut.com/c...75_TIPS-and-RECIPES.aspxEdited by user Sunday, January 29, 2012 11:36:14 PM(UTC)

I am so happy to hear this about the Sugar Sheets blending in with the icing. They cut so nicely, I really wanted to be able to use them!

Yeah, it sort of melts into the icing taking on the taste of the icing without melting the image. It does well with butter cream icing.

Yeah, to cut cheese, you want to freeze it a little first so it can be firm. If you try to cut it and the cheese is tearing, then it needs to freeze a little longer.
