I am so sad the mat that came with my machine is not sticky! I Tried the running under water it did not work. I went to HSN to order more they are sold out! My mat is not sticky either. But, once it goes in the machine it works out fine. I just smooth it on top of the mat and put it in the machine and everything works out fine. Hope this helps.

Mine is not sticky either and it seems to work just fine. I have not had a problem with the paper shifting or tearing like I do with my expression.

I also read where you can 'rough it up' with a plastic spatula. I don't think I'm going to go there just yet. Mine isn't sticky either but I've not had any problems yet. It seems the machine clamps down on it more than the other cutters or something.
