I have a cake on my blog made totally from card stock. The cake slice template is posted there too. The slices are actually little boxes that you could fill with chocolate, small gifts etc. MY BLOG click for more details

Wow that is great, I love it. Patsyb on the MB posted one of these a while back and she did it using TBBM which has a cut for the slice type boxes so I had to get TBBM and I still haven't made one of these LOL

Nana Donna Thank you. You really should try it. It is easy, fun to decorate AND would make a great gift item too.

I hope you will all try and make one (even if just a slice. They are such great gift ideas. Think of going into the office early and putting it on someone's desk with a card OR at home on the table as a surprise when the birthday comes down for breakfast.
NOTE: The cake was not made with the Cricut cartridge, but with a template I got free on-line. Link is in my blog.
Thank you all for your comments.

craftymac wrote: oh my gosh.....awesome Thank you so much. I still need to go back in and decide how I want the whole cake decorated (the completed slice was an "extra". Had to prove to myself that I could make it look real, before I made a dozen of them for the cake. I was amazed at how easy. You could use swirls, striped paper ... all kinds of things to embellish it. Hope others will try it too.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful feedback on the cake.
The flowers are made with a scallop circle plus a brad. We did them at a class project a while back and I had lots of samples. They just take a few minutes each to make. The tutorial links for them are on my blog.

They are made with scallop circles and I have two different tutorials for them on my blog (links are in the cake blog entry).

BTW the newlyweds flew home from Las Vegas this afternoon. Genny .. thank you so much. You touched my heart. Did you see that now on my blog you can sign up for e-mail notifications? That way once a day you will receive the blog entry sent to your e-mail account. On the days I don't post, no e-mail update. That way you won't miss out on any of the projects and ideas. Wouldn't they have been great to put a piece of grooms cake in for all the guests to take home? (wrapping the grooms cake in foil first ---- probably don't do the fruitcake grooms cake any longer --- LOL --- OK, using them as favors at each person's place setting.) Bet the kids had a great time in Vegas.

Yes I did see the e-mail sign up and I did it.
I'm sure they had a great time, but I seen on Facebook that they were ready to come home.

yummy yum it looks like a chocolate cheesecake (or at least my imagination would say it is!). That's a fantastic party idea and a good way to skip the calories and put other stuff in the boxes.

I may need to go to the bakery soon. LOL My husband wished last night that it would transform into a real cake today when he woke up. No such luck, he was so disapponited. LOL
