Yeah thank god I didn't win. I was bidding on the mothers day cart on ebay and had only 11 sec's to go, someone was bidding with me and it was at $17.99 so I was putting in $18.99 but in the rush to do so.. I put $1899 hit enter and then saw what I did and freaked out.
THANKFULLY it posted to late and the other person won the cart for $18.

I really though it went in and I had won. I was thinking to myself, how do I tell this person that it wasn't meant to be that price. I mean I know, and I'm she would have known it was a opp's but I would hate bad feeback and deal with the whole issue of trying to fix it.
I think I did pee slightly.

Even if it would have went through, it would have only bid up $.50 or $1.00 more or so than the next highest bidder, so unless someone really, really, really wants that cart, they wouldn't have bid you up that far.  Edited by user Friday, September 17, 2010 5:53:29 PM(UTC)

That would have been nerve wracking but Mommy2Darlings is correct. It would have allowed it to go that high but no one is likely to have bid more than a couple of dollars higher than what it eventually went for.

No worries, you could have retracted the bid,but with proxy bidding,you would not have to pay but a dollar(or whatever the increments were) over the next highest bidder. The thing about Ebay is that a seller can't leave a buyer bad feedback anymore.

yeah someone would have had to bid $1898.50 for you to have had to pay your $1899. it only adds 50 cents to the highest bid under you. way to win a cart though! lol.

I have almost done that before!! According to ebay policy you can retract a bid if a mistake is made like that! One day I walked into the office and my 4 year old was bidding on a CAR!!! We were stationed in England at the time so what would I do with a car in California??

That's what I was gonna say. The $1899 would've been your max bid and that's only if someone else bid close to that amount, so you were safe. Definitely a scary moment though. I think my heart would've skipped a beat or two at the time!!
