We know many of you have questions around the recent news dealing with third-party software and Cricut. As a creative company, it’s important for us to both protect the intellectual property of Cricut machines, as well as protect the community of independent artists, designers, and programmers we work with. Click the link to read the official statement from Provo Craft. http://www.cricut.com/statement/ I understand about intellectual property rights, but for instance, I have both Cricut Expressions and Gypsy and can't even convert my files to rhinestone templates (the ability to select a stone size and convert a design to a rhinestone template). The people mentioned in the lawsuit have these features. Is it difficult to add a way for us to make rhinestone templates with Cricut that the 3rd party vendors provided? Would this type of feature cause an issue with Cricut's existing machines? If you all could provide this rhinestone feature, you could tap into a new market of selling rhinestones and the template materials. Also, a good thing would be to at least design a cartridge where we can select the stone sizes to cut (accurately) for stencils.

Could you also add the auto shadow feature? I was at a friends house the other day and using another cutter and software and the auto shadow feature was amazing. It made designing so much easier. I believe the other softwares had that feature also.

I believe this is a mistake that should be reversed. Third party software does not threaten developers. What it does is enhance the machine, allowing hreater diversity. A host of new die cutting machines are hitting the market allowing this option. In the long run, Provo will lose market share.

Agreed - but this is a dead horse. They will never go back to it.
I love it. Works great - no issues with updates or not being available. Highly versatile. Oh well....

Hi I'm sorry to say I never go to this community posts, Now I wish I did. I am at a complete lost, I have no idea what is happening with cricut gypsy going black, why? Someone said they are not going to have the gypsy any longer. Something about a law suit, what is the third party software? It probably sounds ridiculous, but I don't know what is happening. What is going on with the imagine, I have three machines plus the gypsy. Could you please inform me? Thanks Chris Edited by user Sunday, September 16, 2012 7:15:27 PM(UTC)
