This is a birthday card I made for my Sister-in-Law. I wanted something special so I decided to try out my markers for the first time. I had a blast and love how it turned out. I'm sure I'll be using them more often from now on! I used the Mother's Day 2010 Cartridge for the design and Plantin School Book for the monogram. Edited by user Friday, May 11, 2012 4:34:24 PM(UTC)

Wow! This is really pretty and for a first-timer you look like a pro! I have 2 sets of markers and I haven't even taken them out of the packaging due to not understanding how to use them. Any tips you could give me?

The tip that I found most useful was to not be afraid. I love intricate details, but hate poking out all the little pieces after I've cut them. So I decided to try and draw the design instead. I love the result. I have used this technique for a few other cards and tags...I just havn't posted them, and I have a bad habit of giving my cards to their intended owners before I remember to take a picture of it. You can also tell by my stlye that I like monocromatic themes. Using a brown marker of tan, cream, and brown color papers. If you don't know how to match up markers with paper, it's good to start with like families. Using the red marker on pink paper is really cute too! And I've also done the blue marker on light blue paper with beautiful results. Have fun!!

I found myself looking for a "like" button but realized I'd have to leave an actual reply. Love this card. Like you, I also like the intricate designs & get frustrated trying to poke tiny pieces out. Using the markers is a great idea. I have not really used mine & this has inspired me to go play around with them.

This is gorgeous!! I have only used my markers once before and that was for writing a sentiment on a card. I am going to have to try this. I can just imagine all the pretty things I can make. TFS!! Kathy

This is an absolutely beautiful and elegant card. I have always been cautious about using markers but will definitely give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration.
