We cut the states as big as we could. Each student chose a state. The had to draw a physical map, draw and label the state symbols, research and find famous landmarks for that state, 10 most populated cities, and a choice page. The student who did NY chose sports teams. File Attachment(s): LisaGoodwin1 attached the following image(s):

Great job. We had to do a state report when I was in 4th grade.
State outlines still make me cringe though. We used to get a state outline, sometimes with the counties included and would have to locate the landmarks, cities, rivers, roads, etc. on tests.

My daughter had a state report to do last year (3rd grade). She wrote her report & we used 50 states to make stencils for her to draw all of the images. She had the state shape w/ Capital marked, flag, bird, tree (we used a book then my Gypsy to design a tree), & flower. She traced all of them using the stencils then colored them all in. She got an A on the report & & comment about all of the pictures being great. (Love My Cricut)
Now I have all of the 3rd graders this year asking for stencils - LOL! Lori
