How come every time I try to cut the smaller flourish-type layers they ALWAYS tear on me. I am cutting a 2" image which is small, but the flourish part always gets wadded up on my mat. I have tried slowing it down and decreasing and increasing pressure....it's ticking me off!  Any suggestions?

I've noticed that slowing down the speed will actually cause paper to tear more sometimes. I would put the speed on high and then decrease the pressure a bit. Should work. If not, then that cut just doesn't work for smaller sizes! Unfortunately some cuts are like that. What cartridge are you trying to use?

I am trying to cut the turkey with the flourish behind it on Cricut Lite's "Celebrate with a Flourish". It keeps tearing the the flourish part every time. I have tried different brands of paper including Stampin' Up, but no luck. I will try your suggestion about speeding it up and backing off the pressure. Crossing my fingers this works.

check the blade, I have had issues with paper tearing when blade has a "nick" in it or sometimes the blade housing gets lint in it and won't allow the blade to move properly try blowing it out and see if that helps...also like someone else said lower the pressure and/or the depth of the blade for the smaller cuts. hope that helps.

I was having paper tearing issues as well,go to aboverubiesstudio.com they have a free cutting guide. It tells you speed an pressure for almost any paper. I hope this helps!!

I also am having a terrible time with the tearing. I put a new blade in. So, if the images are smaller and more detailed, they have a larger tendency to tear? I will have to work with this, but love reading all the suggestions. I will go to - aboverubiesstudio.com - and check that out. Thanks. I will keep reading comments. Very helpful.

Try the above suggestions and also use a new mat. The paper might be moving just a little bit because the adhesive in the spot might be worn off!

If the paper is textured, I'm having much better luck with the deep cut blade. It's virtually eliminated tearing with textured paper. Depending on the paper, the other suggestions here have also helped me out.
