I am trying to cut a design that is about 16 inches. When I try to cut, I get this message "Characters won't fit! Change size or Press Cut again to cut as many as will fit." I have tried using the 12 x 24 paper as well as 12 x 12. I changed my mat setting on my Cricut and I still get this message. What am I doing wrong?

I think for the 12x24 you have to change mat size then did you choose the fit to length for your 10 inch or fit to page? That would be so awesome if I helped you out my first time answering a cry for help

Juicyfruities, Thank you for your help. I did cut to length and it cut at 11". However, when I tried cut to page, I got the same error message. I am trying to cut a 16" Texas out of vinyl for my daughter's shower liner. Since it says that you can cut up to 24" I thought 16" would be no problem. However, I will have to keep trying. I do appreciate your help. This mb is the best!

Did you try changing the way you cut your letters from landscape to portrait? See if that helps. I was trying to do that myself and got angry because it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do . I put my machine away and just as soon as I was all cleaned up the thought hit me change the direction of the cutting and It should fit. I havent tried it because I have been so busy with work. Hope that helps!

Gina, I did try the landscape, but it would not cut out the larger sizes. I am using the 12x24 mat and have changed my setting, but don't know what else to do. Anyway, I thank you for your help. I will keep trying!

Played with the size in CDS. The problem is that to make the image of Texas cut proportionately, when the height is 16" the width is over 16". Even if you rotate the image 90 degrees, the width is 16" and the height is over 16". One of the measurements must be under 12" to fit on the mat. Looks like the largest size that can be cut is 11-1/2". Hope this helps.

You can find 12x24 paper packs at Hobby Lobby. I think they are $14.99. Hope this helps.
