can someone please tell me about etching - like do i need vinyl and where can i buy it in the uk
and what else do you do with vinyl

For etching you can use Vinyl OR contact paper. It depends on preference. I like contact paper because it's cheaper and it's not like you're going to reuse the stencil.

Here's a link from the old MB on etching ... post #20 has step by step directions. Vinyl is generally used, I'm not in the UK, so I have no clue where you might go to purchase it there ... however, I have also used self-adhesive removable vinyl shelf liner, with the same results. One thing this link doesn't say ... but the Cricut settings I use when cutting vinyl are ... set the pressure to 3, and blade depth to 3 as well.
