I have boys, so I am putting in lego mini figures. I am looking at garage sales and on ebay. For girls you might try barettes, pretty buttons (for crafts), funny bands (those new rubberbands all the kids are wearing), earrings, rings, stickers, fun erasers, and more. Hope this helps. I got two on clearance at Archivers, and then saw the new one by Kaisercrafts. Well, I got the clearance price! Clare

How about a note like in a fortune cookie or a Bible verse.

I also like hot wheels for boys, depending on the size of each day. Stickers might work.
I have one with the name of 25 different christmas books. Whichever book is chosen on that day is the one we read for bed that night.

I made a matchbox advent box for Kiki last year - she was 5 then. (video of how I made it on my blog by the way) I filled the tiny boxes with hair bands, beaded bracelets, stickers, stick on tattoos, teensy little pots of nail varnish for kids, stick on earrings, and every so often I put a bright shiny coin or two wrapped in xmas tissue - we have £ coins in the UK, but dollar bills would fold up small as well obviously. she got so excited to have money to spend in the candy store. Tip, if you want to get quarters nice and shiny, leave them in coke over night. Edited by user Saturday, September 18, 2010 9:29:15 PM(UTC)

Silly bands and those puzzle erasers seem to be the rage these days. How about a coupon, like "Good for one trip to the park" or "Skip one chore today"? HTH.

it's like a countdown calendar to christmas day. Some have little doors that open to a prize, saying, picture, whatever. You can buy advent calendar forms from different papercraft companies like Kaiser and others. Some have boxes that you cover in paper and others have little drawers. :)
