I have 700 Kauai photos to scrap. (I knocked it down from 1200 by eliminating dupes and not so great pics). I need to get started but 700 photos is so overwhelming I don't know how to even begin!!!! Any suggestions for expediting the process??

Maybe some "interactive" scrapbooking may help the number of layouts you need to make. I did this when I scrapbooked our Alaska trip and it really did cut down on the number of layouts and used almost all the photos we took. Hope this helps in some way.

I would start by grouping like pictures (or ones that go with each other) then scrap them together I"m working on Disney World photos so my Splash Mt pics are all on 2 double LO pages - any more I'm leaving out - if you insist on all pictures then I would pick what is needed for a single 2page LO then put the others in a photo album page
I hope that makes sense

Lock yourself in a small room, with a bottle of wine and some coffee pills.

One picture at a time Haha! There are many different ways you can go about this depending on how quickly you want it done. You can do it one at a time, or you can choose a couple colors that you like and those are the only colors that you incorporate though out the whole layout. I have done both but it depends on how you want the finished product to look! Good luck!

Thanks - these are great suggestions. I have to admit I have no idea what "interactive" scrapbooking is!? I will have to look back at the old board and see if I can find the posts about power scrapping - or maybe I can find it on Cynthia's blog. I also like Scraptastic's suggestion - I have a bottle of almond flavored champagne with my name on it and a bag of Oreo's in the cupboard so I think I'm set.

I know someone was talking about scrapbooks that have the old type of photo sleeves (you know the ones with 3 - 5 per page) and they go in the same book as 12 x 12 or 8 x 8 pages. Then you create scrapbook pages for a few of the pictures but the rest of them are right there next to the others. Fancy page, traditional, traditional, traditional, fancy page and so on. With 700 pictures you might want to go that route. I can't imagine finishing that many pages in a year (even if you were able to put 3 on every page you would be talking about 200+ pages.

Jill I'm so glad to know I'm not alone! I have at least that many Hawaii photos also and that's just from one trip! I have yet to tackle this project and everyones suggestions are great. I have been collecting tropical themed papers and embellishments forever but hope it doesn't end up looking like a mishmash.

I have found myself in the same situation. I by dates and then by events during that day and scrap 1 event at a time. When I get one day/event on the table I find myself getting more picky about the shots I end up using. All the rest I put in the traditional pages so I can share all the shots we took. Good luck with your project, because I need to work on Greece and I think my husband took about 800 shots by himself! Eskana

You don't have to make them all the same size, either! I love wallet sized photos

I have the same problem with some cruise pictures. I've been putting it off forever because I am overwhelmed! and I did what you did too, already went thru them and parted with some but can't bring myself to part with any others. Good luck!

I totally understand as well. I'm working on an 8x8 Montana trip album. I started by finding some sketches I really liked and then picking the photos that would best fit the sketch I chose for that page. I kept the sketches to just a few a rotated them for variety. But it made picking the photos easier. The I printed them off in the sizes I needed. The first day I scrapped, I did 14 pages in 5 hrs. It felt good. I finished all the pages I had planned. Now I need to plan some more. I'm only 6 days into our 15 day trip.
I like the idea of the multi photo page as well, where you can just drop some photos in behind the layouts to get in more pictures. The you can scrap the best ones but still include the really good ones. Good Luck.
