Only for a select few here. People just don't understand the time and love...so those people get bought cards.

So how do you do it?

I've been making my own cards for the last 10 years, and yes I still give to those I know that don't appreciate the time and effort that goes into them.
I hope that one day they will. But I only send out about 40 of them.

Although I DO NOT hand write personal notes inside, I will create a greeting in Word and then print and paste to the inside. And would you believe I actually had someone say that was impersonal! The nerve!

The nerve!! LOL. How can anyone say that's impersonal....anyone who would has never been on FB! FB, to me, is about the most impersonal thing anyone can do. Yet, I go see what some of my personal impersonal friends are putting out there!! I love the more personal notes; but, I don't care if they're typewritten or spoken orally....I love the personal notes. Doesn't matter to me if they are stuck on a piece of paper and handed to me, personally! I LOVE THE MESSAGES.

I love making the cards; but, I tend to make fifteen or twenty a year and only send a few of those out that same year; then, I make ten or fifteen more after the holidays. I'm more comfortable letting them (the cards) settle in (cure) for a year or so to see if they are holding up (in a box put away in the storage room). Then, if they stay intact (or need a little repair), I send them out in the mail, eventually. Last year I sent thirty or more.

I didn't think ONE of the recipients had anything to say about them to me; but, this morning, when I went through my old 2012 Christmas Cards we received, my AUNT who is 86, had written a sweet note in her card that she loved my card, it was cute and too much hard work!! I guess I didn't let that note sink in, because I was sure NOONE acknowledged receiving my cards last year.

I know I shouldn't want/need the reinforcement....but, it is heartwarming to hear it, if even from only a few.

Yes. I have been for several years now. I don't know how many don't appreciate my time or effort on them though because I hear from most that they do.

A few years ago I skipped sending them... Was just too busy to make them and several let me know they missed my cards because they looked forward to what I would make that year.

I guess you just never know how a hand made card may affect someone.

I make mine regardless of if I give them to people who appreciate them or not. It makes ME happy to make them. Sure it'd be nice to be acknowledged for my hard work but I still have personal satisfaction in my creations Smile Then again I don't send out a ton ( 20 or so)

I make my cards and I sent out 65 this year. I have already gotten a few comments and that felt nice that they noticed.

I made about 65 this year as well. I don't really expect them to be treated any differently than purchased cards but a few cousins seem to notice favorably that they are handmade.

I have been making Christmas cards for several years for family and friends. I think, from conversation, they have been appreciated. I also send out handmade birthday cards. I try to always find a verse to go inside that fit the person/personality. Sometimes I will change a word or two from the original.
