Hi Jen, I missed the posts you made about your leaking roof. Sorry you had that happen. There was so much rain here also this week. Many suburbs flooded.

Glad you are back up and running GG. You must be one tough cookie!

Thanks Laura.

I had my mom and dads neighbors come down and fix the roof problem today. The basement is slowly drying but it musty down there now I have to open the windows tomorrow so it will get some fresh air and see if it will smell better.

Laura.....not sure I would call myself running yet....just very determined not to let this get me down. I am definitely still recovering, but like to think of myself as tough, so thanks for the compliment. I want to be working outside in the gardens, but am not allowed yet, nor do I have the energy anyway. It will happen soon enough.....GG.

Hi all! JCI. I am BUH-ORRRE-DDD. I should be happy my surgery went well, and I am, just having trouble with all the restrictions. However, I know they are for my own good, and I know what happens when I do not follow doc's orders. I just want to be outside working in my flower beds and garden! I did make a card for my oldest today, in anticipation of him passing his driver's license test. I was suppose to make Mom cards, too, but just could not get crafty. My middle son has his birthday next week, so need to make his card as well. Oh crafting gods, visit your creativeness upon me and give me the will to do that which I must get done...lol. GG

Wow--what a week it has been. Being just outside of Chicago we have had lots of flooded basements around here! On Thursday they cancelled school less than an hour before its scheduled start, and because I work at home and am a block from school, I became a haven for stranded kids. At one time I had 18 kids while parents made arrangements for the rest of the day.

Of course my basement flooded and we are slowly getting everything cleaned up. It is raining again right now so I hope we don't have more water!

Jen--I know it is a day late but my cuts will be mailed by Thursday.

Hope you get your basement cleaned out. I got mine dried out for now anyway and most of the stuff put away. Still have a few things to get put away.

Lesa.....we are also the local emergency, and even non emergency, hangout. I like it that way though. I get to know a lot of kids, and their home situations, so I know who my guys are hanging out with. Other than when I substitute teach, I am mostly at home as well, so this works out great. I make sure I have a stocked fridge, pantry, fruit basket, and cookie jar! We also have plenty for the kids/young adults to do. We have been blessed with a large yard, so unless there is a tornado, floods , and blizzard at the same time, there's some type of pick up game going on. We are also a very musically inclined family, so we have an almost complete music store in our basement and garage....instant garage band, much to our neighbors' chagrin...lol! I keep our library shelves full, too, and there is probably at least one book of ours in every one of the homes in our neighborhood that has teenagers in residence. We have XBox thanks to the GP's, so that takes care of the indoor, non-musical types. Then, I have craft stuff everywhere for the girls that stop by that are not interested in ball games or XBox. I have lost count of the number of school projects I have helped my boys' friends do with my E2. I swear they make up excuses to come here sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I thank God that He has given us the opportunity to witness to such young, impressionable hearts and minds. What a blessing you are to those families. GG

UGH< so Sorry your basement flooded Lesa, I was hoping no one here got it, but looks like you and Jen both did!
Good luck with the cleanup.
My Niece lives in Lisle next to the park, she was lucky though many of her neighbors were not. Her kids were out of school 3 days.
The Neighborhood kids are lucky to have both you and GG's as a safe haven.
