I love your July 4 card with the ad colors... love that cupcake with the sparkler on it that just topped it off!!! You will be having those that do the cricut cakes joining us soon!!! Dee, thanks for the great ad color!!! I just know I have papers with those colors. Well got to go and give my doggy hair cut...he needs it soooo bad... then back to my craft room to have some fun making a card or 2 with this week sketches!!! I love the long hair on my doggy but hubby likes the short and because he keeps him well groomed I will do the cut. Chrlotgirl, please do join us... And thanks Dee for the Ad colors, I should no problem using these colors with 2 grandsons in the Navy. In fact I just found this morning that one of them had earned/received his Dolphins on March 3rd. He is underway right now (submarine) but earning your Dolphins is a big deal and a lot of work, it took nearly a year. So I will make him a congrats card using the ad colors for when he returns from deployment sometime this summer

I was inspired by the card Vickie Bryan posted on the "Cards" section of the MB last week. Hers is ADORABLE and I hope she doesn't mind that I scraplifted it. Vickie, thanks for using eyelets on your card. I have NEVER used eyelets on my cards before. Over two years ago, Nanadonna gifted me with a VERY nice complete set of tools for doing this kind of stuff...now thanks to you both I am a BIG fan of eyelets!...THANKS Edited by user Friday, March 08, 2013 3:56:11 PM(UTC) \| Reason: Not specified

Vickie used a different cut on hers, it has exactly FIVE tips on it, perfect spacing for the buttons. Whereas the one I used has Nine tips...but it still worked. Sometimes you just need a bright card in your stash. The papers are DCWV and then odd bits from my stash of scraps and I used purple glitter glue I got for 50 cents when I was over there and it is its first time in use. I'm really enjoying it. I'm also TRYING to get in the gear to join in, but so far it's not going too good. I do love the challenges for this week. We don't HAVE to use the ad colors, do we? While they are very nice....and I know someone is taking their time to come up with them, I'm not always thinking they're right for what I have to make my cards for at the time. Thanks to the ladies who take their time for posting the challenges/ad colors each week. AGAIN, I'm enjoying EVERYTHING I see here. You ladies are very creative and talented! Can't wait to really get into it and maybe be able to join in each week. I've been LURKING a lot....but I'm a wannabe!! LOL. Char

Sorry I haven't been here... super busy now and I'm going to try and get a card or two done over the weekend BEFORE I start purging my craft room. I basically only one week left to pack the stuff we aren't using everyday... so I'm excited and nervous at the same time SandyPalmer: thank you for hosting this week and with great sketches as well. That cupcake card in the Ad colors is fantastic! I never thought of making a cupcake with patriotic colors. Well done! Wow your sketch 3 is so pretty! There are so many gorgeous elements on this card. LOVE it! DeeScraps: thanks for choosing the Ad colors... patriotic colors is always a classic chrlotgirl52474b9e: Welcome! I do hope to see you around and I can't wait for you to share your creations with us Dragonfly50: thank you for that awesome explanation of what we do here Nancy J.: I hope you had fun cutting your doggy's hair. Mine has short hair so I never worry about that but he sure does shed a LOT NanaDonna: congratulations to your grandson for his Dolphin achievement. Gorgeous baby girl card... love love the color combination TurtleBug: (or JOISE... hee hee) two great variation of the same baby cards... love the colors on both. I love using eyelets but not all the time of course... mostly for tags and such. It's so much easier to use them now too with the Crop-a-dile... I used to use the old eyelet tools of hammering down each AcrossThePond: bright cards are right up my alley. Love the combination of colors, I think I ran out of those two particular papers from that stack... it was definitely my second stack that I bought when I started making cards CricketCMV: take your time and make cards when you get the chance. We don't have to follow the sketches or colors exactly... they're there for inspiration only

A lot of us have trouble choosing papers sometimes so the Ad colors were added to this challenge a long time ago to help us if needed. I know it takes me a LONG time to choose which papers to use and so sometimes, the Ad colors help me pin point the color combination I'm looking for instead of spending hours and hours flipping through stacks of papers

Although most of his shipmates are going home, he has been given the option to re-up for 3 more yrs. and he is seriously thinking about it. JUST in case he does come home for good I made this welcome home card for him. This is his ship (a Carrier) and emblem with his unit the CVN77. Sketch card #2 in the Ad Colors: Image - Computer-downloaded Embossing - Cuttlebug "Stars" folder Paper - Michael's single sheet rack Flag - Sticker Added silver star bling, ribbon and popped the flag with 3-D tape. The red square is glossy cardstock and when I embossed it the paper "cracked" (for lack of a better word) and you can see some of the white showing....any suggestions as to what I can do so this doesn't happen again? WOW!!! Sue, wonderful sketch 2 card! It really looks like a fun celebration card to me! CricketCMV, I don't always use the ad colors! Sometimes I just don't seem to have the right colors, or it may not go with what I was making at the time! They are just here if you want to use them! TurtleBug, I have to say, that is one good looking ad color and sketch 2 card! It is very sharp looking! Either way, you are going to knock the socks off your grandson on that card! I knew you and Donna both would like the ad colors this time, and I was right, lol!

I'm not sure if it will help I haven't tried it. You might want to give it a try with a scrap piece of the paper you used to see if it works.?. D-

I notice embossing does the same thing on vellum. This happens to me when the plates, paper, and embossing pads all together are going through the embossing machine too tightly. I have to use thinner plates sometimes. I hope that helps
