I just bought the CTMH Artiste cartridge and I want to make the images bigger...has anyone had luck enlarging images with the 12x24 cutting mat?

Would help to know which machine you have, are you using just the machine or using CCR. Mainly you just set the size for any image that you want to cut.

I have never used my 12X24" mat, as yet. BUT, I don't know why there would be any problem.
You just have to have a machine that will allow you to use 12" across. You may have to turn your image to get the length desired.
I have seen many projects on the MB that look like they have been done on 12X24" mats. Maybe you can find some out in the forums.
We would love to see your finished project!

I am using an expression 2 and I know how to adjust the size....I just want to make some of the projects larger than the 12 inches. I was just curious if anyone else had tried doing this. Thanks guys! I might just have to try it and see. This cartridge has some really cute things!

I think your options are limited. I don't think the E2 is compatible with the old design studio software (I think I am correct about that)where in ds you can extend images outside the mat size and it will cut what is inside the cutting area and skip what is outside allowing you to piece together larger images. I just finished a large Hello Kitty for a birthday party decoration/game that is almost 24" tall by 18" or so wide pieced together using the 24" mat but I own the original expression which works with both ds and CCR. If you use ccr, you sometimes can lay the design diagonally on your virtual mat and get a little bit larger than the 12" width but you have to keep EVERYTHING within the 11.5X11.5 cutting area or ccr will not cut any image that is at all outside the 11.5x11.5 or 11.5 x 23.5 area. As for the gypsy, I have no idea what if anything it will do beyond the 12 x 12 mat surface as I don't own one Hope this helps Edited by user Wednesday, February 20, 2013 2:29:50 AM(UTC)

We are wondering if you are using CCR at all?
If you are, you can stretch any image you want up to 23-1/2". Is this what you're asking?

You maybe should be.....it depends entirely on your computer/internet and the requirements put forth by ProvoCraft.
What kind of computer do you have?
What Internet Browser do you use?
How much RAM do you have on your computer?
What Operating Systems do you use.....e.g., Windows XP, Vista, Window 7 (if you're no on MAC)
If you can tell us what CRICUT you'll be using and answer the above questions, it might be in your favor.
While there is success by some with many of the CRICUTS (as long as they're not older machines), there are a lot of problems posted on here with the IMAGINE and the E2.
Most of us do good with our Expressions and our MINIs.
CCR allows you to WELD/GROUP IMAGES and manipulate up or down for length & width. So, if you wanted a particular image to become a border, you might take that image and smash it down (narrow) and stretch it out (lengthen) to the exact measurement you want it to be on your design.
We'll help; but, first answer the questions above. We'll tell you what we think. If you want to call ProvoCraft, you can do that, too. BUT, it might be well worth your while to answer the above questions and we'll give you our two cents worth first.

Ok..here goes...
I have a Dell Inspiron, I use Internet explorer, not sure on RAM, I have windows 7, I am using the E2...
It sounds really neat, but I haven't had that much time to look into it really. I appreciate your help Char!

You can click on the MY COMPUTER icon (on the START menu of your desktop screen). When it opens, left click out in the open space on that screen and go to PROPERTIES. That will show you how much RAM you have on your computer. If it's a newer one, you probably have 6 or 8GB RAM. Not necessarily, though.
I would be leery setting up my E2 on CCR. Maybe some others will come on here who have somewhat the same setup as you do to tell you they do good in CCR with their E2s.

Although I love using CCR, I don't think CCR is going to do what you want because of it's limitations listed by Olivia'sNana. Changing just one measurement. . .height or width. . .without changing the other by stretching the image will distort it. So unless the image is a rectangle {which has non-equal sides already} even a circle will become an oval, a square becomes a rectangle and other images can become unrecognizable. scrapalette attached the following image(s):

I use my E2 with CCR and haven't had any problems with it to-date. Hope this helps in your decision.
