I've read of a few who have changed the battery in their Gypsy and am now having such problems I want to do the same. Wondering if this is something I can do myself or do I need to take it somewhere to be replaced?
I've considered just replacing my Gypsy but they are difficult to find under $350 these days!
Anyone have any suggestions or tips?

I have not personally done this, but I have read of others that have done it. It's a lithium battery, so any place that sells them (Battery Mart, Radio Shack, etc) should carry them. The hard part is getting the thing apart. Even AFTER you remove the screws, you have to break the seal. Don't even attempt this if your G is still under warranty. If it is not, you still run the risk of damaging the board and not even being able to use it with AC power. I was fortunate enough to get a back up when they had the bundle back in July. No idea what they are going for on ebay, but if you go that route, make sure it's NEW or that PC will reregister a USED one.

Some people have been using a battery pack charger with the gypsy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/...&hash=item3364e916c6I guess that's a good alternative to still being mobile and not having to try and get the gypsy open to change the battery. Mary
