Hi, all, first time I have ever had a problem with my Gypsy since it came out.
Today I bought a cartridge from A.C. Moore, Princess Party, came home and synched it to my Gypsy without any problem. When I went to cut, I got a message: "Gypsy detected a security breach and is shutting down." Started it up again and got the same message. Tried cutting from another synched cartridge without any problem. Then tried cutting from Sweet Tooth Boxes and got the same security breach message. So I figured I needed to do an update. While doing the update, I got a message, "Unable to retrieve or process the device upgrade manifest. Check your internet connection or contact customer service." Shut down, tried again and got the same message. Internet was fine. Everything plugged into electrical source.
Anyone have a problem like this or know what may be going on?
Thanks, Ryta

I've had my gypsy for a while, but it's been sitting in the box, not being used. I had linked a few cartridges, but never used it. I decided to update it so I could link all my new carts and I got the same message as you. I even tried rebooting my laptop and uninstalling and reinstalling the cricut sync program. Since we are both having the same problem, I'd say it's a problem on their end and not ours! I'm glad I decided to check this forum.

Thanks for responses. How do you reformat and do you lose your cartridges installed? I only use my gypsy so much so that when I went to cut just from machine I couldn't remember how to load/unload etc.

Cricut was down for maintenance the other day. Have you tried again recently?

I kept getting this message a few weeks ago and ultimately had to reformat my gypsy and lost every project I had on it. The cartridges remained. It worked for about two weeks and now it won't even stay on - keeps turning off each time I touch the screen. I've been searching for a new one but they are few and far between. I thought I would just switch over to Cricut Craft Room but was beyond frustrated that my cartridges won't link up over there because they are already linked to my Gypsy. I had to insert every cartridge every time and that was so frustrating. Back to the Dark Ages with Cricut!
