I am starting a new 12 X 12 patterned paper swap. This is the first time I have hosted a swap, but I have participated in many. I wanted to try doing one myself, since I have been having so much fun! This will be an easy swap, as you do not have to make anything! All you have to do is go through your patterned paper, and decide with what you are willing to part. I have done that already, and have come up with more than enough paper to do this swap!

So, this is how we will begin: After we have our list of participants, I will fill a medium sized flat rate box from the PO with 12 X 12 patterned paper protected by a plastic bag. I will include mailing labels for all the people in the swap inside the box in order of when they sign up. I will mail the box to the first person on my list. That person will remove the paper they wish to keep, and replace it with at least the same amount of paper they took out. They will then mail the box to the next person on the list. DC#'s must be used, posted on the thread, and PM'd to me. You may keep the box for three days, mailing on the 3rd day after the first day you receive it. If you cannot mail within this time frame, please do not join this swap. It is just not fair to the other participants. I do, however, understand that there may be extenuating circumstances, so if something arises that keeps you from mailing in time, just PM me to explain, and I will let the next person on the list know. If you are on the Flaker list, this is not the swap for you. If you are new to the Message Board, and want to join, WELCOME!!, and let me know that you are new. I will need some extra information from you to ensure your participation. So, to all that wish to join, YAY!, and follow the directions below:

1) Post on thread you want to join, then PM me your MB name, your real name, your address, and your e-mail address.

2) When you receive the box of paper, try to go through it immediately. Take out the paper you wish to keep, and add at least that amount back.

3) No torn or ripped or otherwise damaged paper. 12 X 12 patterned paper only. Please include paper comparible in quality and weight as what you take out.

4) Within 3 days, package remaining paper in included plastic bag/bags, and box up. Use included mailing address label to mail to next person on list.

5) Get a DC#, this protects you, and shows that you HAVE mailed the package, and allows the person receiving to track it.

6) If we are getting too much paper to fit in the box, please let me know. I have a large padded envelope I can mail to you that the paper will fit in, and that should last the remainder of the swap.

7) Post that you have mailed the package, include the DC#. Also, PM me the DC#.

8) Have fun!

After the box makes it's way back to me, we will decide if we want to do another round. I WILL REPORT FLAKERS!! So, please just do not do that! I will have sign ups until Fri., Jan. 25th, OR until we reach 12 participants, whichever comes first. I will then mail the box no later than Sat., Jan. 26th. I have to skip this round. I'm still using the paper from the last one. Believe it or not I haven't even needed to buy any more since then either! SOO much paper, I'll be swimming back to my projects now...

I think you're the boss so you get to make the rules. If you're going to close earlier than planned I suggest putting "closing early" or "filling up fast" or something similar in the description. Just in case anyone read the initial OP and figured they'd have time, that'd make it fair to them.

I think 12 would be more than enough. But agree you should say closing early or something.

Ok Swappers, we are about to get this thing rolling. I will be mailing our box tomorrow to CraftyOldBat, with a DC#, which I will post here on the thread. I have included pre-addressed mailing labels in the box in order of the list in the OP. When it is your turn to mail, just find the label with you as the sender, put it on the box, get a DC#, and you are ready to go.

I keep mentioning the Delivery Confirmation, because I want to make certain you understand the importance of getting one. Having the DC# is your proof that you have mailed the package, and allows the person who is to receive it to track their package. Please remember to post on the Swap thread that you have mailed the package, the DC#, and PM me with the DC# as well.

I have placed the paper in a zip type plastic bag to protect it from the elements in case something damages the box. There are extra bags in the box if needed. I have started the Swap with 65 pieces of 12X12 paper. It is both thick and thin card stock, but mostly thick. The paper is either K&CO or DCWV, though there are a few pieces of American Crafts and Recollections. It is mostly one sided, except the K&CO paper, which has 2 designs. You may take out as much paper as you want, as long as you replace it with the same amount and quality of paper. For example: if you take out 10 pages of the thick card stock, please replace it with the same amount of thick card stock. I know I do not have to say this, but just so it is out there, please do not put in torn, cut, wrinkled,or otherwise damaged paper. And, we are looking for PATTERNED paper....paper with some type of design on it, not plain, colored paper.

You have 3 days from the day you receive the package to choose what you want, replace what you have taken, and mail the package to the next person on the list. Please mail on time. It is just not fair to the other swappers not to do so. However, I do understand that life can get in the way. We all have kids, partners, or other people we are responsible for, and we all have busy lives, so that is no excuse for not mailing on time. I am speaking of situations that are beyond our control....illness, mayhem, and other such disasters. If you cannot mail on time, PM me ASAP and let me know the reason. I will then inform the next person on the list, and the rest of the group. Thank you!

Now, MOST IMPORTANT......Let's have fun!!! Stay in touch on the MB. I may post some things to keep us involved with each other, so keep checking our thread. The box will take a couple months to make it's way back to me. When you receive it, let us know by posting. If you want to, tease us with some hints on what the paper is like. Post when you mail it to the next person, letting us know how many pieces of paper you removed, and how many you put back in. When I get the box, we can decide whether to do another round, as I have a few people who are interested if we do, OR we can decide what to do with the remaining paper. There is a homeless shelter I volunteer at that I could donate any remaining paper to for craft classes that I and a few others teach to the people the shelter serves.
