I have recently purchased the Cricut Mini and used only a few times and the Blade is not cutting through even the thinnest Card properly. I decided to try and sharpen the Blade and did this with the Colonial 45mm Rotary Blade Sharpener. I rubbed the blade across the surface on each side a few times and it cut straight away. I don't know how long the blade will last but it should save a few pennies on buying new ones.

you shouldn't have had that problem that soon. It must have been a faulty blade. I have had my e for 6 years and have cut hundreds and hundreds, more like thousands of cuts and probably haven't changed my blade but 3-4 times at most in 6 years

When I got my E2 last year the blade didn't seem to last very long. I saw some posts that indicated that the original blades MIGHT not be as good quality. I don't know if that was true, but subsequent blades have lasted much much longer.
