I just got my expression 2 machine. Just kind of trying to find something to try it out. Cut out letter on blade #3 then got heavier cardstock so went to 5 as reccommended. oh my gosh what a mess. The paper stuck to the mat , they little details in heart didnt cut out so when I took it off it ripped or what I did get up was not clean cuts but jagged. What did I do wrong.

Probably nothing. The mat is initially very sticky. Lots of people will decrease the tackiness by putting a piece of cardstock on the mat and pulling it off several times or pat a clean t-shirt over the mat.
Once the mat isn't as sticky, the spatula or similar tool is very helpful in releasing the cut images from the mat.

Unfortunately it sounds as if your blade is getting blunt. I have recently got the Cricut Mini and used only a few times and the Cutting Blade is blunt. I have a Rotary Cutting Blade sharpener and rubbed it on there a few times and it cut paper straight away. I don't know if you have the same problem as me, but it is worthwhile buying one of these blade sharpeners. I have the 45mm round one.
