I store mine horizontal. I have had some of my markers for 3 years and they are still going strong! I have them grouped according to color groups.

I store mine in a Snap 'N Stack Craft Organizer. You can get them in various sizes and layers at Joann's. I store mine horizontal. I have had some for several years. I ran out of ink for 3 of them while I was making my Christmas cards this year! Edited by user Tuesday, January 15, 2013 1:19:49 PM(UTC)

I store mine horizontal at home, but for traveling in my bag they are horizontal or vertical, however they fit in what I'm carrying them in.
I store them in the copic wallet that holds 72 markers. My new problem, I have 96 markers now, LOL!! Just added 10 that arrived on Monday. I'm sure I'll buy more, so I'm weighing if I need to put the large case that holds 300 on my wishlist.

The Copic instructor I took a class from said it doesn't matter how you store them--upright or on their sides either way is perfectly fine. Here is a LINK to the case I use to store my Copics in. I actually have two of them, but have not filled the first one up quite yet. My neighbor made them. It holds both Ciaos and Sketches. Love it! Hope this helps!!

I store mine vertically in one of those "fancy shoe boxes" with the handles. I can see them all very well and I can just grab the box when I need it. It doesn't matter which way you store them and that's awesome!
