I will be starting up the LID (laying it down)Challenges again for the new year. I have some trips, Christmas and a few other things that need scrapping so I thought it was time to start this up again. I hope lots of you will join us. For those of you that haven't done this before, all you have to do is follow the sketch to make a layout. You do not have to follow it exactly; it is just a starting point. Sometimes I have to turn the sketch around or adjust my picture sizes. Once you have finished your layout, please post it so we can see what everyone did with the sketch. The interpretations usually are great. There is NO COMMITTMENT at all. Do one or both sketches or just look at the finished products. It is entirely up to you. Tag this post as FAVORITE so you can come back and check out the sketches. I think one week is kind of short for some people so I will be posting new sketches every 2 weeks. The first week, I am going to try and also post a picture of a layout made using the sketch. This may help start your creativity going. Found this double layout that I really liked but no sample with it! The single layout uses just one picture and there was a sample with it. (faces blocked just in case)It also looks like the background paper may be one of those preprinted ones you get in a stack. Gives you a headstart I think Have fun with these and lets see what you can come up with. It can be as simple or as fancy as you desire. Remember, these sketches are to get your creative juices up and running while scrapping all those 2012 pictures you have laying around.Edited by user Wednesday, January 02, 2013 8:25:23 AM(UTC)

Yay! I am excited to read this especially since I have a TON of layouts to finish for my oldest son's senior year. I will probably need tutored on how to post pics though, since my old way of doing it doesn't seem to work anymore. I used to upload to Photobucket and then paste the link here using the mountain button. When I tried on the last few challenges, I couldn't get it to work. I think I need to resize the pics then post here but haven't figured that out yet. LOL
Thanks, Jean!

Sketches posted in OP I have my pictures ready, now for the papers!!!!! That takes me the longest It does help though to have coordinated packages of paper. My resolution for 2013 is to use what I have in my scraproom and not buy anything else! If I don't have what I need, then I will have to go to plan B.

I have both of mine layed out. I will leave them for a few days before I adhere anything. I tend to move things around before I get the look that I want Quick tip--take a picture before you move too much around. That way you will be able to see how you had it to begin with. If you have layers, it helps to see the picture when you start glueing it together.

Glad to see some old faces. I mean that is a good way Hi LisaW and ShellbyWoo Nice layout of the BFF!!!!!! I finished both of mine. I have had 3 weeks off so lots of time to work on layouts. I plan on only using what I have in my stash so the single layout has lots of diecuts from a swap!!! (I don't like the journaling area but not sure if I can get it off without problems) The 2nd one is a layout of the snowstorm we had on Dec 29th. We had 8 1/2 inches of the white stuff!!!!! I think snow is pretty but much prefer white SAND!!!! I have no idea why I used purple!!!!! Edited by user Thursday, January 03, 2013 2:38:05 PM(UTC)

I'm really happy to see this again!! I did this last year, but only did one page!! I need to do better this year!! I really like the two page sketch.
I really like all of your pages Shelby and JeanP. I really like purple on a snow page!! and I needed to see a wedding page so I can be inspired to start my son's album. Got lots to do.....

Jean: Great layouts! The Christmas layout is beautiful and I LOVE the purple on the snow layout!
I can't see the pics in the other two posts. I have been having trouble viewing/posting pics since the last time we did the LID Challenges. I need to try to get to these this weekend. I have TONS of pics to do since my older sons just got back from their band trip to the Outback Bowl where their HS band was named Grand Champions and my senior year son was named outstanding field commander! Proud mom here!

ShelbyWoo: GREAT layouts! I love the blues in both layouts and the snowflake in the wedding layout. Beautiful job!

I got my stuff laid out on the table ready to go tonight...Thankfully today was a snow day and my scrapbook class got canceled I am planning on parking myself at the table until it is done.
I will get caught up and manage my time a little better (bball season is upon me so time is a little more limited but bound and determined to get some layouts done)...keep telling myself that, lol.

finally got the double sketch done...still got the single sketch to go. Still working on my Disney books (making 2 so have to 2 of each page) I wanted a darker turquoise for my paper but couldn't find any at the scrapbook stores but happy overall with the layouts. Well, I finally finished one. I did a single of the double layout. It is a LO of my wiggly daughter at the eye doctor. I could have had another whole page of pics of her with her legs over her head and head down to the floor with her body in the chair, but as soon as she saw the camera, she would sit nice!! ;-) So I only got these 3. I am still going to journal under the pics, but am throwing around the idea of putting a little pic at the bottom of her in her new glasses, which I haven't taken yet....so what I have done so far.... not liking the white space.... should have done longer strips I think!! I would love to hear any ideas!!

Lisa: I love your choice of papers. Great layout!
CTIBBMN: Those pics are great! I can only imagine how funny the other shots would have been if you could have snapped them. LOL GREAT layout! I love the soft colors and the glasses cut.
Haven't started mine yet. Had to finish plans and grading but since school was cancelled due to a water main break that caused the whole city to be without water (we have a well) I have almost all of that finished so I plan on scrapping today. :) Now, if I can figure out how to post pics...

ctibbmm--super cute layout. I don't think there is any problem with the white areas. lisa--nice job on the die cuts and the layout!!! These sketches are just a starting point remember I also find that on some cartridges it is very hard to make things small when there are lots of pieces to layer. Linda-looking forward to seeing what you come up with
