My husband bought me the Cricut Expression for Christmas and I haven't used it yet. One question I have is what is the smallest size of the design I can cut out?

1/4 inch..but really depends on what you are cutting..a 1/4 inch of one thing could be smaller when you cut something else. But anyway if you set up your machine you will see that you can set the dial starting at 1/4.

I think without using one of the design programs (ccr, gypsy) it is 1/4". Using gypsy or ccr you can get a little smaller - BUT in either case it will depend how intricate the image is and the quality of paper you use and the correct settings for the paper. It is really trial and error
