Hello! I have just entered the world of Cricut! And I love it! I made personalized plastic cups for the girls in the family for Christmas. Great success! I just got the Word Collage cart and the cut went through the backing on the vinyl. I have a mini Cricut. What settings should I use? After more internet research found out this is called kiss cut. I am using outdoor vinyl. I have tried all combinations of settings and the backing gets cut too. Please help! Thanks very much! Edited by user Sunday, December 30, 2012 4:06:57 PM(UTC)

Usually they say to use the blade 3, pressure 3, and speed 3. I don't have the mini but have the E, E2 and the Imagine. Most of the time I just do a trial cut because every machine is different well for me they are I use different settings on each one. Last cut I did with the E2 was pressure 2 speed 3 and blade 4. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help! But no luck. I am thinking its the vinyl??? I got it off Amazon. Please confirm that I am doing this correctly: I am trying to cut a word collage. And I don't want the backing to cut through so I can use transfer tape to adhere to the board I am decorating? Is this correct? I cut one collage and when I pulled it off the mat it all stayed stuck except for the outline. Ended up with a mess of letters! Thanks again for all of your help!

Try 2-2-2. That's what I use on my E2.

Can anyone help! I have had the Cricut for approx. 3 weeks but have only been able to use it twice as the blade becomes blunt after about 6-7cuts. I have had to order 2 new blades and only have one left and I have used different types of card without success. javascript:insertsmiley(' %20','/forum/Images/Emoticons/cr_bored.gif')

My mini also tends to cut through the backing on 3. I've been doing 2-2-3. I've also played with 2-3-3 and that works pretty well too. My E2 doesn't cut through the backing when I use 3-3-3. I don't know why the mini seems to cut a bit deeper. Maybe that's why the cuts are so nice on the mini..... Edited by user Friday, January 04, 2013 6:53:12 PM(UTC)
