Let me just say up front, that my creation for Kim will most likely be NOTHING like any of the rest of yours! I use these swaps to challenge myself to think outside the box and this time I'ma going WAY outside... Just another note about spools: I finished a roll of ATG tape last night and noticed that the spool is pretty cool lookin', I won't be throwing them away anymore...

Woo hoo COB!! I love challenging myself too and you should see this sketch I have of yours! I'm just going to go ahead and make two... One for me and one for you. I knew I would have a hard time parting with the one I make for you!
I have almost everything for it. I just need to get a couple of things. I have one DT project ahead of this then I can start. :)
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Looks like it's sunny outside finally!

Hi ScrappyDew, I must say I am a little intimidated having you for a partner. You have some great projects on your blog and this obviously is not your first time with these Do you have a specific color you would like your spool in?

I had every intention of going to bed at 10:30 and letting the new year usher itself in but then DD called and we wound up bringing 2013 in together. She's deploying (Army medic) in Feb,for a year, to Afghanistan. I'm not embarrassed to admit that it's a very scary time for me and talking about the future and her plans for when she comes home was awesome. It was the best NYE I've spent in ages. Being the old lady that I am I had to hang up with her by about 12:45 and was quickly fast asleep until my phone rang again @ 3:15 when (Navy) DS called with West Coast New Year's wishes Then I was up early with DD's dog (I'm fostering him until she returns) and my mom (who has no sense of time anymore so she's up when she's up ) so I'm starting off the new year a bit sleepy but for good reason! It's a cold, windy day in the northeast and I'm off to take down our tree. Despite the challenges ahead for our family this year I'm armed with a renewed sense of positivity, strength and community so 2013... I'm ready for ya, BRING IT ON! HAPPY NEW YEAR ladies! (THANKS for being my friends!) Edited by user Tuesday, January 01, 2013 6:08:45 PM(UTC)

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone... COB sounds like you have a nice new year eve's... we went to dinner and then to the local casino and hung out until midnight ... and then came home.. Here is hoping the 2013 brings us all a lot of happiness and not so much of the other stuff. and that we all get to make some really neat crafty things we have not done before. oh are the wicked minds at work yet.. Maureen let me know if there is a certain style or color that you would like your spool to be in or are you up for a surprise?? terri

Hope everyone had a great New Year's. I am totally and utterly exhausted. Between work, the kick-off party, life...I am pooped.
So yesterday during the kick-off I needed to take a quick break. As I was scurrying quickly to the other room I had accidentaly started to step on my metal embellie box (it is one of those big jewelry boxes with a glass lid 12" x 24" x 6") on the floor. Before I realized it and could react, the glass shattered. I was so bummed at first, but maybe it was crafting fate.
I had been on the desparate look out for small unfinished wooden printer's trays. I ended up finding two larger display boxes, but they wouldn't work for what I wanted to do with them. They were on clearance so I picked them up anyway. I ended up putting the metal embellies in there. Then realized in stead of junking the now broken box, I could transform it into three projects. The two top insert boxes are the size I have been looking for and will work perfectly for project #1. Project #2 - knocked the glass out and now I have a perfect size frame to use for something. Project #3. Bottom part of the box will work great for a larger printer's tray/shaddow box project. So excited. I had bought that box about a year ago on clearance for $5. So now to have more use out of it will be awesome. *******
CoB asked this question in a different forum, just thought it would be fun to ask it here:
What are your crafting related New Year's resolutions.
Here are mine....
Try to continually learn new techniques. (I signed up for two online workshops and I am also participating in Creative Jumpstart 2013). Try new projects (Short and Sweet, Design Team Projects) Swap less and make some more things for myself, gifts, etc. (I am going to limit myself to one - 2 max at at a time) (This will be the big challenge for myself as I am always easily pursuaded to join a swap). Use stash more and buy less.

Dang Kel, I hope you didn't hurt yourself in the broken glass, glad it all turned out for the good. You are one busy woman no wonder your pooped!! Lana, I have your spool painted, yay making progress, have what I want to do in my head, here's praying it turns out!! Well, my new years resolution was to quit buying so much, but of course that flew out the window today when I had to make returns and of course go by M's, well I'll give it the ol'College try again tomorrow. My goal is to have fun and learn how to make new things. I plan on keeping the number of swaps that I join at one time to reasonable number. I want to have a drama free swapping year.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Hi to all~ Big waves to Cindy~ My crafting resolutions~ Learn new techniques and get out of my comfort zone! Not to join so many that it takes the fun out of it. Keep craft room organized and put stuff away as I go. Finish one project before I begin another. (hate having 3 or more going at one time) Spend less on new things and try to use stuff in my stash. Buy less Maggies which is going to be hard to do because I love them. Make more cards for Operation Write Home. Make more cards/crafts for my family. (they're starting to get testy) Go to a crop because it sounds like so much fun! Have a great day, ladies, going to check out some of my other threads and then got to HL, got lots of housework done yesterday so hopefully will have lots of crafting time today if I don't spend too much time at HL ~Rebecca Edited by user Thursday, January 03, 2013 6:14:33 AM(UTC)

Rebecca, if Birmingham isn't too far from you, here's a great event to go to. Besides classes and shopping, there's a cropping event each night. I went to the one in St. Louis last year and had a great time...I even won a prize from the Heartfelt Creations class I attended. http://www.ckscrapbookev...tions/CKCBirmingham.aspx
