Hi All - I'm getting started back with my cricut (bought the original the first weekend it came out) and just upgraded to the expression for larger cuts. Can I get some ideas on why you prefer digital over physical or vise versa on the cartridges. Trying to think though things before I buy more cartridges.  Laura

My preference is the cartridge...... I use ccr sometimes but like to have the option of using it without my computer

I use CCR for pretty much every cut {all my carts are linked and I have them stored in the basement} and I have bought some digital images, but I still prefer the physical cart.

Physical all the way, don't want to be tied to a computer. I don't mind changing the carts out, its the only excersize I get when I scrap. Turn in my chair, look in the storage I have them in, turn back around to Cricut, insert and push button. LOL

I like owning the physical carts, but would prefer to load them to CCR. I have all my cartridges loaded to my Gypsy, so I can not load them to CCR! I’m hoping they’ll come up with a fix real soon!

I like the convienmce of ccr, but will always get a physical cartridge and just link it for use in ccr... With the digital cartridge your only buying rights to use them... So when ccr doesn't work your out of luck... Or should PC ever go out of business you have nothing.
With the physical cartridge you have the best of both worlds.

I use my Gypsy, so I don't have to use CCR, because I don't have space to hook it up to the computer. Of course I still worry about the rumors about the Gypsy. At first, I didn't think I would get any digital ones. I started out getting a few of the Craft Room Exclusives. I print out the sheet(s) and keep them in a binder. I then bought a few carts when they had some really good prices. The thing I miss about the physical cartridge, is the handbook. But then I just go on-line. If I'm making a cut, then I will sometimes print out the page for that one. So far, it has worked for me.......and I am running out of space for more carts.

With the physical cartridge you have the best of both worlds. Not necessarily. It's possible that a "make your own cart" option could be provided where all your digital images would be put on a cart, similar to the "Best of XXXX" carts they made with images from multiple carts.

I like physical for all the reason above...
However, I like Scrapalette's thought about creating my own cartidge using the digital images. But, I still like the physical cartridges best!

Along this line, are you able to download digital images to your Gypsy and then use them without CCR?

With a physical cart if you should at some point in time decide you no longer want the cart you can sell it. You might not make a lot of $$, but at least could re-coop some $. I don't see that happening if you buy a digital cart. And well since the there very little if any savings in buying digital vs physical, I see no reason to buy digital if you can still get the physical cart. Now for some very hard to find carts, it might make sense, but for the most part I think physical is the way to go.

After you purchase the digital ones, you have to sync your Gypsy. You will get a message that the digital ones have been updated. If it is a brand new one though, you might have to wait awhile before it is available on your Gypsy.

In addition to what Kari has said.......digitals, in my opinion, are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, many times being more expensive than the physical cartridge. As has been stated, we are at the mercy of CCR when we own digitals.....so, if there is no electricity or no CCR, we have NOTHING to show for our money. To me, it's just wasted money. Not that anything like that would EVER happen; but, to me, there's no assurance at all it couldn't happen. Char

PHYSICAL 100%. If CCR or the internet or my computer are down, I can't scrap with a digi cart. Plus, lots of times I go to crops and there is no connectivity. A physical cart is always available. I've yet to purchase a digi image because my Imagine doesn't work with CCR. Have no clue what I'll do with the $50...kind of upset that I'm forced to use the credit for only digis. Please don't think I'm ungrateful. I am very grateful for the gift - just feel it came with strings attached.

Marta Marta, If you have a Gypsy, spend it on a digi that is in your G cart library (most of them are there). After you buy it, sync your G and it will unlock the content for you. That's what I plan to do since I cannot use CCR.

Physical carts for me!!
I do use and love CCR but I also like to use the machines alone especially while at work for bulletin boards and teaching materials.
If my carts were digital that would prevent me from cutting lots of stuff while there.
Our school district doesn't allow us to download programs to our computers plus I wouldn't want to have that one be one of the two I can use for CCR cutting.
I do have a few digital cuts. I bought some of the Father's day ones when they were on sale. :)
I never did get a Gypsy (no linking carts for me. lol)
Whatever way you prefer to craft just ENJOY it!!!

I love, love, love my carts. I am such a hands on person. I have to touch things. I also like to see my carts all lined up on my bookcase. I do have them on my
Gypsy and love her also.

Physical all the time. The ccr is not stable enough to be able to use all the time. What happened to the desk top CCR. I think the digi carts are too expensive and free images would be nice from time to time not just loaned for a week. We have invested plenty in PC to be given some reward. I do like the fact you dont have to go onto a computer to use these machines as I dont allow my son on his computer all the time and feel its wrong of me to be on when he is not allowed. Actually in the UK the digital carts are about 30 to 50% cheaper than the physical carts due to the additions of VAT and import tax etc. So for me the digis are the way to go. Only thing that worries me is if PC goes belly up and I lose my carts. Plus I live in a tiny house with no storage so having dozens of carts isn't practical. I do wish they would hurry up with the gypsy linking, it's been too long already and my hate having to mess about saving my CCR files to Gypsy format then plugging in the gypsy and loading up CS to transfer the files over to my gypsy so I can cut them. I don't always have the time to mess about like that

I prefer the software that is in the gypsy as its easy to use. I had CDS and found it hard to handle and stopped using it...CCR looks/feels like CDS to me. The prices for the physical carts are still too expensive as I cannot always get into the CCR let alone be able to save to my gypsy. I cant even get into the CCR it is just not opening at the minute.
