I am not sure WHY this announcement was not also posted in this forum. It's pretty important news for CC users. The focus seems to be on Imagine users, however it's pretty darned important to me as a CC owner and user! Important Announcement includes the Cricut Cake

Well it all makes sense now. There has been very little sign of anything new for the cake machine and in fact the cake mini is being sold here in the UK for next to nothing by a craft shopping channel. The cake cartridges are being sold 2 for £30!

In the UK there was a big 'launch special deal' only yesterday on C&C TV - hope not too many are disappointed, and that they did their research before buying!!

As a person just new to this machine, does that mean that we can use any of their other machines for cake products? I presume that there was a reason for a "cake" version, so is there still a difference?

No pretty sure you would not be able to use the other machines for cake products, the rollers on the other machines are different as well as the blade attachment since they are made for cutting paper not the fondant. As long as nothing happens to your machine you will be okay. This thread is 2 months old so not sure if any thing has changed since then.
