Okay, forgive my ignorance but I am in need of some help. I recently posted that my Gypsy broke...and it doesn't seem to be fixable. If I purchase a new Gypsy and try to load my current cartridges onto it, will it let me, since they have already been loaded ont my "old" Gypsy?

Call PC. They will have you send in both your new and old Gypsy so they can put the serial number from the old one onto the new one. When you get your new Gypsy back (because they don't return the old one to you) you have to link all your cartridges back onto it. I think I explained that right. Uggg, really? Oh man this is just crazy! All I want is my Gypsy back. I am going crazy without it. I really do not like the craft room at all. Especially since I have to load each cartridge in everytime I need to use a different one. So cumbersome...and annoying. Ok well, thank you so much for your input and help with that.

Really. When you linked your carts to your {now broken} Gypsy, the serial number of the Gypsy was written onto the cart. So yes, if you try to link the cart to another Gypsy, it won't and will tell you it is already linked.
But, PC will change the serial number of your new Gypsy to match the serial number of the broken Gypsy and then when you try to link the cart, it works because the serial numbers match.

Does anyone know if this will cost anything to have them do this? Just trying to do this as cheaply and as quickly as possible. This is so painful not having my gypsy! Waaaaaa!

i had to replace my gypsy recently, the battery died, and it was a gypsy from the original launch. i sent in the original gypsy with a new gypsy for re-serialization. all went smoothly. customer service was so helpful! the whole process took no longer than 3 weeks. re-linking my cartridges (and i have approximately 175 cartridges)was not difficult and was completed within a day and half-- done leisurely. hope this eases any fears you may have with this process. good luck with whatever decision you choose for your gypsy.

But the carts that were linked to your original Gypsy still have the serial number of that Gypsy written to them, so they are still "linked". If you mean can you re-link on some of the images on a cart, no.

The tricky part might be finding a new Gypsy to buy - I haven't been able to find them in stock anywhere. I'm hesitant to buy a used one of EBay.
