On a whim I purchased an Expression 2 on sale. I took a quick look at it and now I'm intimidated. Is it very hard to learn to use the E2? I had to take a class to figure out the Expression when I first got it. If I decided to sell my Expression, what is a fair price?

I would definitely hang on to the Expression if I were you. It is such a great machine and it may be very handy to have it as a back up.
Unless you bundle it up with several cartridges, you will not see a lot of $$$ for it.

Keep your E as a back up.
I don't have an E2 yet but when (if) I get one I'll be keeping my E.

Keep your E. Last year I bought an E2 on Black Friday. I love it, but I have a hard time using the small screen sometimes. When I was cutting things for my daughter's wedding reception my E2 was not updating properly, so after many tries and phone calls to provo craft I put it away and pulled my E back out. I am getting ready to try my E2 again but I am so glad I kept my E.

The more you use your E2, the easier it gets just like most technology. I say to keep them both if you can afford to.

I have to say that I bought an E2 during Michael's black Friday event. I absolutely love it. I haven't turned my E on since. My Imagine used to be my go to machine. Now I can save that for use only when using the Imagine cartridges for printing. I did not get rid of my E though. I just promised it to my 17yo DD  Sandra

i have the ae e2 and the e. i primarily use my e2 but i still use my e. there are a few functions (centerpoint) that i find much easier on my e. plus i have ds, gypsy and ccr that i use for designs. presently i can use ds with my e and the gypsy and ccr with e2. i like having a backup for my e/e2. hope this helps.

I have an Expression and getting the 2 for Christmas. I will be keeping my E. Plus I still have my baby bug. I use it to take to crops and some times I run 2 Cricuts at one time. I am excited to get the 2 and know it's something to get use to. I remember when I first started using plain old computers! It wasn't easy either!

I have both, love them both- you just need to give yourself a little time and you will find the E2 a nice machine and enjoy them both but do keep the E for a backup or to use with the E2. BJR.

I, too, think you should keep your original Expression. To me, the Expression is the most reliable of the later machines made.....e.g., Imagine and E2. Based on the posts on these MBs, there have been problems with these two later machines. The Expression seems to be the one machine that is literally FREE of problems. I have an E I bought in 2008, bought a MINI when they first came out and bought an E this year when cricut.com had them on sale for $170 with two newer cartridges....Flower Shoppe and Giant Flowers.
Being on CCR has made my first Expression useless as a stand alone. So, I bought the second one for a backup in case we have power outages when I'm in the middle of a project and/or in the case CCR would not be up and running at some times in the future. (Like when they're having to do maintenance).
At the most, you might be able to get 1/2 out of what you paid for your original, but this is rare. It would depend on if you have used it thousands of times or literally, just a few times. AND, if your machine hasn't worked all that good, then I would feel a little guilty to pass it off on someone else (not saying that's your case....just giving another scenario) by asking too much for it.
Good luck with your decision....it would be interesting to know what you decide and why you decide to go that route.
