Thank you to whoever suggested talking to a local sign company to get scrap pieces of vinyl! I couldn't find your post again.
My mom stopped by the sign company in our small town today and was given a bunch of nice big scrap pieces for me!
The boxes the guy put them in both say Oracal 651 (outdoor vinyl right?). The pieces inside have markings on the back that either say nothing at all, Oracal 651, or Avery Graphics. What is the best cut for these. I'm assuming all are outdoor vinyls. I can use these indoor though if I don't care about removing right? I have a mirror I want to try something on. Is the 3-3-3 "kiss cut" the best for this type of vinyl too?
Also.. some of the vinyl is reflective. Does this make a difference. It feels the same as the other vinyl.
One roll says Iron On. Not sure how to use this one either.
I am using an Expression and I have both the standard and deep cut blades.

I usually use the 3-3-3 on my Expression with vinyl, last night i was cutting Oracal 631 and had to change my blade to 2 actually i might need to change the pressure because it is cutting down to the paper. And i use the regular blade, so give it a try.

The 3-3-3 setting really depends on the age of your blade and mat. Always do a test cut and make adjustments when needed.
If you got scraps from a commercial sign company, then the vinyl with no markings on the back is probably Gerber brand. With both the Avery and the Gerber, they don't specify which model so you will have to guess. All outdoor glossy vinyl is thinner than the Oracal Matte vinyl. Matte vinyl is 3 mils thick, the outdoor vinyl is between 2 and 2.5 mils thick. The more expensive/longer lasting the thinner the vinyl. So you may need to tweak your settings even more to accommodate the thinner vinyl. The metallics will probably be 2 mils thick.
The iron-on vinyl is even thinner. It comes on a clear plastic backing rather than wax paper. Make your cut in reverse, then weed off the excess. The iron on vinyl is not sticky, but the plastic backing is. So having the sticky on the opposite side makes for some interesting, but easier weeding. Then, once weeded, place face down on your t-shirt or other fabric. This will put the plastic side on top. The sticky side of the plastic will help hold your sheet in place on the fabric. Then iron on using your iron at (I believe) about 300 degrees. Every iron is different, so you may want to test it. My iron doesn't work well, because it has so many large holes. But a friend of mine uses a thin hard plastic sheet, like a thin plastic cutting board, over the vinyl to even things out. She says it works great.

Thanks! I found that the 3-3-3 cut cuts through the background. I have successfully but using 2 (low) for pressure and 3 for speed and blade setting. I am in love with vinyl!
Now I just need to learn to layer the vinyl for multi colors :)
I'm going to have to take another look at the iron on vinyl. I haven't messed with it yet.

I am trying to cut vinyl on the E2 and when I start cutting it cuts out the first letter and then when cutting the second letter the blade moves through the first letter and cuts it in half. Any suggestions?

I set everything to 3, the blade depth, speed and pressure (Med), works great.

Any suggestions? Is your mat sticky enough that it is holding the vinyl down to it? This happens to me when my mat isnt sticky enough or the paper/vinyl is raise up just a tad from the mat.
