Can someone tell me what the transfer paper that cricut sells is used for with the vinyl? I made some designer cups this weekend with the vinyl and then found out that cricut sells transfer sheets. Thanks for your help.

You use transfer paper to move your design {once you've cut and weeded it} from the backing paper to your project. I prefer the clear transfer paper {sometimes called transfer tape, but it's much less tacky than regular tape} to you can easily see where your design goes. In these projects, I weeded around the tag cut and then used transfer tape to pull the tag from the paper backing {leaving all the other pieces I would have weeded out} and placed it on a cardstock tag I had cut to match. Then I used the transfer tape to pick up all the cut-out pices and placed them on the glass candy jar. In this project, I designed the cut to fit the bucket. I cut and weeded and then used transfer tape to move the moustache and word, keeping them in the position so all I had to do was place the transfer paper on the bucket, burnish and peel the transfer paper away. If you're only using one image, you don't really need transfer paper, but the transfer paper does help keep the vinyl image from stretching.
