I bet you are doing just fine. If you want, you can always email photos and ask, but as long as you are following the rules, it should all be great.
Sorry, not all the photos/links are quite right - I will look up what I did wrong, but I know the pages are right
A few ideas for clear
A card that is clear - I don't know who made this one, but thought it was pretty
Some ghost type shapes - here is a pictures of some Heidi swapp ones. I bought some, but then started cutting from my cricut:
A piece of plastic done with alcohol inks:

I did a class on ustream about using alcohol inks on plastics. I ended up using a freezer bag for some of the samples and they came out great! I will find some photos of where I used them, but it will be later today before I get the posted.
Here is the link to the video on some different techniques

Using cuttlebug to clear emboss
You can buy clear cardstock, or, if you ever purchase anything in that clear plastic, cricut cartridges, many toys, a lot of tools, they all come with the heat sealed plastic to cut apart. Just cut out the flat parts to re-use

This is a great video. One note - I usually score the plastic before folding, but usually I don't fold unles it is a card
