I have my cricut connected to my computer and every time I try to cut something, it says that the cartridge is not installed. I have tried everything I can think of but just can't seem to figure this out! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are you connected the CCR? the cricut craft room? You cannot cut from your computer unless you are connected to the CCR, and you cut from the CCR unless you the cart, or are using the free images from that program.

I am connected, it doesn't do it all the time just more times than not. Also, it won't let me link my cartridges. I am new to all this and am getting a little bit frustrated but I love my cricut when I can get it to work!

I don't use the CCR so can't help you much with that...but if its asking for the cart when you put in the cart does it cut then? You can always called the PC Help desk, they will walk you thru it.

Is your Cricut's firmware up to date? (Which Cricut do you have?)
And have you installed the drivers for your Cricut onto your computer? (You do that from the help menu in CCR.)

Yes any printer lead with one square end and one USB will connect your Cricut to the computer. Downloading the software I found extremely tedius as it took 3 attempts before I was successful and it wouldn't link the George and Basic shapes nor the christmas cartidge I bought but I contacted Cricut and they linked them from their end. I'm not impressed with the system and the freebies are pathetic.

I am frustrated also.....I thought that with the craft room you didn't need cartridges. I guess if you want to do some fancy work the CCR is perfect, but for me I am just needing some stencils for my glass etchiing and really thought this would be perfect. But, since they don't work without the cartridges I will just use the cartridges. Looking at the positive side of this whole mess, I can at least see the images and lettering that I want and at least I know what cartridge to buy. I have been looking for lettering for a longgggg time now. As you probably know, there sure are ALOT of cartridges out there....whew....the list went on and on...anyway, just wanted to share my experience in case someone else is having the same problem.
