When you put the blade in how do you know which way to face the slanted side of the blade, in other words how do you know the blade is facing the right way and not side ways in the holder?

It doesn't matter how you place the blade in the assembly. The Cricut will turn it as it cuts anyway. So long as you have the blade end pointing down and the arrow on the housing facing the front you're good to go!
