Hello,
My old XP computer is dying and i want to transfer my cricut designer studio to my new windows 7 64 bit computer. It is about a year that i'm trying to install my cricut on my new computer. Followed several forums and try outs but still no result.
Yesterday i'v reached a first break trought. I've installed the latest DS from this site. And then my cricut asked to perform a frimware update. so i did this. But know he keeps repeating firmware update.
My DS is installed as trial right know because i want first a perfect cut before i switch finally from computer.
How do i proceed know ?
Thanks for looking. a desperate cricut user. Karin

The firmware update usually takes two passes. Make sure you put your Cricut back in update mode before doing the second pass. If that doesn't work, call PC and CS will help you.

a short update of what i tried yesterday evening.
I'd reinstalled the latest download of DS.
When i connected USB i got message no drivers find, solutions center opend to find solution and started searching for driver.
Then DS asked for firmware update. So i did. The first pass, the second pass and again the second pass and again the second pass. NOTE there was still a cartridge inside the cricut.
Then i started over again without cartridge and suddenly it worked. DS started cutting !!!.WOW IT CAN WORK!!!
then i turned of everything. DS, the cricut, the computer and turned everything again on.
And when i wanted to cut from DS i got again the message, cricut needs firmware update.
How do i proceed now ?
I tried installing craft room as you mentioned. But i have to try it again because instalation failed.
Right now i know that this can work. But i'm still looking for a work around that DS stop asking firmware update after turning of DS and the computer. I'm all testing in the trial version. I want first this to work and then ask for transfer my license to the new computer.
Thank you for helping me out. Karin

Karin Such fun you're having with this... not!!! The Initializing screen is probably caused by your computers anti-virus program blocking CCR. Let me know what anti-virus program you have and I might be able to direct you to information on fixing that problem.

Can someone help me out. I just purchased a new expressions 2 and have attached to my Mac, downloaded necessary software from this website.
Was able to open design studio program and start designing with 4 Ornamental Iron 2 pics. Everything locked up and stopped so I quit and restarted. Nothing. I did updates on my puter. Nothing. I can't seem to get past the loggin page. It doesn't even log in fully.
I am so new to this cricut stuff I have no idea what to do but I do know I have spent over $400 in machine and supplies and I want to get busy working ASAP.
Very frustrated. Don't really have time to spend hours with customer care. If this can't be fixed I need to return this machine and purchase a different brand on Amazon.
Can someone please help me?

OK, now I detached the machine and was able to log in and open my saved project but once I moved one piece of artwork it locked up on me. Any ideas what this could be?
