We have gone months and months without any updates on our Expressions; I think the last time was early in 2011?
Anyway, I WAS REALLY RETICENT TO UPDATE because I was working on my "Merry & Bright" cards and had a lot of cutting out to do for the insides of my cards................but, it was there staring me in the face!!!
So, I took the PLUNGE!
It took about fifteen minutes (usually, anytime I've had to do any updates/syncs/etc., they have gone fairly fast. So, I was getting more nervous by the minute.
BUT, EVERYTHING IS GOOD! It didn't change the nubmer on my EXPRESSION, which kind of surprised me.
I WENT ON MY MERRY & BRIGHT WAY and started my cuts. EVERYTHING IS OKAY!!!! THANK GOODNESS!!

Sounds like a glitch to me. If the firmware update number didn't change I'm not sure why it needed to be done.

I'm guessing since I don't have mine hooked up to anything I don't need to update it? And I have never updated it..

When I updated my gypsy a couple months back I had to do a firmware update on my E (did both of them) & my number did change. I did an update to my Gypsy this past weekend & it went very quickly as well - about 15 minutes.

I thought it was strange that nothing seemed to update on my Expression, too, Narelle. I have no idea why it made me go through the Firmware Update. I could have skipped it; but, since the beginning, I've always done everything I was prompted to do when going into CCR and have literally NO problems with my machines (except the one time my Expression wouldn't update to the latest and I had to send it back).
After you said something about it might be a "glitch", I'm beginning to think you're right. I haven't been through today's threads, as yet; so, if I'm not seeing anything else about this, I think you're right!! Very strange, though! Thankfully, my Expression seemed to be working fine right after the update.
