I recently lost my son due to an ATV accident and I was just thinking I could do some glass ornaments for Christmas in his memory. I have found some Real Tree AP Camo paper at HL and would like to use that for his name and some wording on the back. Would it be possible to adhere paper to the glass balls? I was wondering if decopage or just the Xryon would work or which would be best. Can someone who has experience please give me some advise. Thank you for the help, each day is a struggle but I know I have to continue on with life...

I am so very sorry for your loss! I just made a ton of the glitter ornaments and I am going to be adhering vinyl to them (names of my family members and then the names of the families of the students in my 1st grade classroom). I don't know if there is camouflage vinyl available anywhere, but that is a possibility. Vinyl is so incredibly easy to put on the glass ornaments.

Thank you for your kindness, the strength of others has helped me survive one day at a time. Thank you.
I have used vinyl and agree it is easy but he was an avid hunter so I would like to use the camo paper as he dressed in camo shirts often so it would be fitting. I am hoping someone knows a way to make the paper work....

I am so sorry for your loss. May God continue to give you strength. I would think the zyron should work. I would think the decopage would leave a filmy look on the glass.

Vinyl comes in inkjet printable. You could print a camo pattern on the vinyl and then cut it out and adhere to the ornaments. You might even be able to get the Real Tree folks to send you a jpeg of their camo print to use. Edited by user Sunday, November 25, 2012 9:04:41 PM(UTC)

Another possible idea is to put the camo paper inside the ornament. Cut it into a shape, put your song sname on it like you'd like, etc. and then you roll it gently up and insert it into the ornament. I use something like fishing line / invisible thread at the top to link it through the hole so it stays up right. I know there are other ways to do it too. Decopage.. you may want to consider some type of wood ornament instead of the glass. They do make different types of decopauge now so look at the various ones there are. Duck Tape brand makes camo sheets. Can be found at Joann's and HL. You can cut these and adhere.

Prayers to you and yours for the loss of your son! I have seen the Duct Tape, also, and I think it's a great idea for your ornaments. Of course, it might depend on the images you want to use. BUT, the tape is probably 2" wide? Not sure. Good luck with your project; hope you'll share it with us when you get your ornaments finished. AND, I think this is a great way to honor your son at Christmastime! - Char

Square One adhesive has a printable material that can run through a standard printer. Message board member Shawn Mosch has a lot of information on this product. I am so sorry for your loss! The first holiday season without your loved one is very difficult, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all so much for your help, thoughts and prayers they are what gets me through each day.
I had not thought of the duct tape and that would be a simple way to do this, he even had a roll in his room for a while (I remember dusting it...), not sure where it is now but I can just buy some. I am taking the day off to shop tomorrow so I will make sure to check out the sheets at Js and HL.
I knew I would get good advice here as the board is made up of so many talented people. Thank you so much as I now know I can make this idea work and that means alot......
