Just started using my cricut. Can you use mat sizes 6 x 12 and 8.5 x 12 or do you just have to use the 12 x 12

The Expression 2 can only use the 12 x 12 and the 12 x 24 mats. The other sizes are too small.

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried using the 6x12 (turned sideways)in the E2. I bought a pack on clearance a while back before I knew you couldn't use them in the E2. I got to wondering if you could use them sideways (trimmed to fit) just pretending they were a 12x12 (but obviously only using the first 6 inches or less).

They are only a few dollars more expensive than the 12x12, but it's double the mat.
