hi as you can see from the title i get this message when trying to install craftroom---- Failed to install driver software (error: 4-0xc0000096)---------. my anti virus is turned off also . can anyone help me plz...

Please once you have an answer for this I would like to request that you post thier answer. I have been getting the same message and though CS is great I keep missing the return call. Mainly because I was in Sandy's path which caused power to go out for about a week. But not as bad as what happened to those in Jersey.

Yes, please post the fix here! I live in Mexico so it is really hard to call the support line and rack up long distance charges while I sit on hold!

If you are trying to run CCR on a PC with Windows 8, try this:
Right click the CCR icon on your desktop and select Properties.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Compatibility tab.
Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Window 7.
Then check the box under Privilege level - Run this program as an administrator.
Initially, I had only set the compatibility mode to Windows 7 but did not check the administrator box and I was getting the Failed to install drivers error. After I checked the admin box, CCR was able to finish loading and I made it to the login screen.

Hello everyone! There are only a few driver errors that can be fixed by running the program as the administrator. The error above will usually require a call into our customer service department. The phone number is 877-7cricut. Please give us a call. We can certainly assist you over the phone!

Had the same issue. Help desk said if u are running or have the old 132 version on your computer and are trying to update it will give you this error message. They said to uninstall the program in your control panel and restart and then download the new version from cricuts website.

I was having this exact same issues. I even tried googling the error message. Since its now Monday, I finally broke down and called the help desk. I was connected and off the phone with my problem solved within 5 minutes. Customer support remotely logged in to my computer remotely and downloaded the missing "drivers". Evidently, there are several files that don't download with the program (as a glitch) and are easily manually downloaded by the remote tech. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to fix it yourself like I did

Many thanks to Melody Lane and her tutorial on using CCR with Windows 8. I have a Windows 7 laptop and already checked mine's, it was as above but i am still having problems with my personal sync_ing with desktop version of CCR. I am going to try and uninstall Abode Air & try Air Zapper and see how i get on from there.
