I just got a cricut mini and am following the setup guide that came with it. Every time I try to do the Cricut Craftroom portion it just gets stuck at "Initializing Cricut Craftroom" I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, stopping the antivirus, and manually downloading drivers and nothing seems to fix the problem. HELP!!

Is your ADOBE AIR updated? It should be at Version 3.4.0.2540.

Yeah I just checked that and it is at that version. Any other ideas on how to fix this?

Try exiting out of your anti-virus/firewall programs before opening up CCR.
Also check that you don't have Windows Firewall and Windows Defender turned on if you are also using a third party anti-virus/firewall.

I'm having the same problem. I cleared the cookies (and all that did was make me re-log into everything else). I turned off Windows Firewall. I updated Adobe Air. I still get the revolving C saying it's updating. I didn't have this problem until I updated to the current build.

I am having the same exact issue. I can't tell you how many times I have "unintall" and "install" both Adobe Air and Cricut Craftroom. I have disabled my Antivirus...even put CCR Bridge.exe and Cricut Craftroom under trusted just to be sure! Cleared out the cookies...re-started my computer a bizillion times, and STILL getting stuck on the "Loading C" that says Initializing Cricut Craftroom!! So irritating. Everytime I call tech support they run me in the same circles and state it must be my computer and or Antivirus preventing me from opening the site. :( PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!!!!

Instead of disabling your anti-virus can you try totally exiting out of it? Then try opening CCR. Also, if you have more than one browser on your computer go into each of them and delete the cookies.

Yes I have tried all of the above. I have never got the program to open properly and I can see some posts that this just recently became a problem. I think it is ridiculous that Provo Craft support can't help anyone, I mean this is their product and all they can do is walk me through the uninstall/reinstall process until my fingers bleed. It seems that it could be related to the Adobe Air release on 08/21/12. Adobe released version 3.4 and if this was working for some people last week and now it isn't working anymore then it has nothing to do with the anti-virus/firewall settings and everything to do with the crappy code that this program is trying to use. I am going to go out on a limb and say that this program was never fully tested on the new Adobe Air 3.4 or that there are bugs that they are unaware of. Does anyone from Provo Craft monitor these forums???? I mean come on if more than 1 person is having these issues then there must be a common problem. I have checked all system requirements and my computer meets all of them but somehow this program will not run. I have uninstalled/reinstalled all of the components atleast 5 times. This is extremly frusterating because when you call for "support" they don't walk you through anything different then what the troubleshooting documentation tells you to try, what is the point of tech support if they cannot go beyond walking someone through an uninstall/reinstall process??? This is just bad buisness all around I paid $350+ on my Cricut Expression 2 5th Anniversary Edition only to have the screen die with 6 months with no explanation of why just that it needs to be replaced. They sent me a new Cricut to replace it but now I dont have the cartridges that came with the machine when I bought it, and the only way to get them back is through this crappy program. I appreciate your help Narelle, but I don't think that you can help with this crappy coding. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROVO CRAFT, THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, because I can tell you I have tried everything 5 times over with no change. I literally have no anti-virus/firewall running on my computer trying to resolve this issue. THANKS FOR NOTHING PROVO CRAFT!!!!

My many years in various IT roles have taught me, "When in doubt, reboot." on a PC we called it the Three Finger Salute (Cntl+Alt+Delete). If you're not in the habit of completely shutting down your computer regularly then it has no way of purging old garbage. If you haven't already tried that, I recommend it highly. Good luck! ~Anne

I am currently experiencing that problem. I just keep shutting everything down, restarting my MAC and then opening everything up again. If it wasn't for the contest, I'd forget all about it!!!
I usually pick my battles and this is one I definitely should tackle!

So my test project cut out like butter and layered just the way it was supposed to!! Nothing to show as I cut the little chicky from County Fair out all in yellow scrap, but she looks good!

Same problem here. I guess I should feel better since I've also tried just about everything short of throwing the computer out the window.

I had the same problem once I updated the latest CCR. Try holding down the control button as you open up CCR. Wait until you see the program open before releasing. I sometimes have to do that in order to sync my gypsy. It usually works. Hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem too. Also can't seem to find entry into the online version of CCR. Am I missing something??? Edited 9-13-12: Mine is finally working. Not sure what did it. I rebooted my laptop and some updates were installed, and when I tried to get into CCR, it finally worked. Edited by user Thursday, September 13, 2012 6:00:05 AM(UTC)

Hello all!! I don't use craft room as often as I use my E2 on its own, so I just got around to installing the update. I too, was stuck at the initializing screen .... I called CS and spoke to someone there who, on top of being super nice, let me know that this is a known issue that support is working on right now. They are not sure what is causing it, and are working hard to get it up and running. If you call into support, they can take your email address and computer information like your ISP and operating system (maybe this will help them figure out the issue), and they will contact you ASAP when the fix is complete. Hope this info helps!! Ashley

I am using a mac and have the same problem. I feel that if PC is going to force people to use an internet based software over a stand alone like Design Studio, they have responsibility to make sure things work properly for everyone. I did not invest my hard earned money to be able craft when it feels like working. So frustrating!

I just forwarded this chain as well as another similar one to support@Cricut.com. Maybe if more people pass it on, they'll get the "hint" and start working on it?
