Has anyone tried to cut material with the mini? I can't seem to get it to work!

I am also having problems with cutting my paper. I insert the cardstock type paper & use the settings listed on the instruction sheet and my paper keeps moving off the mat. I tried changing the settings but I'm still having the same problem :(
