I've owned my Cuttlebug for a few years and use it all the time, but I've never attempted to make my own folder.
FI & I are having a "love birds" theme for our wedding and I thought it would be cute to make my own embossing folder to use on save the dates, programs, thank yous, etc. What I really want to do is have the two birds (actually the bird silhouette from Create a Critter) with one initial in each bird. They aren't very big (about 3 inches long and less then 2 inches high). Do you think this can be done? I have the embossing "kit", but I've also heard that chipboard works just as well in the blank folder. I just bought new blades and a fresh mat, but do you think the image will be too small to emboss crisply?

That's going to be cutting it pretty close but you should give it a try. Try it with chipboard first if you don't want to take a chance with the kit stuff. I make my embossing dies from magnet sheets or rhinestone rubber and I think you can get a little better detail with those so that's something else you could try. http://cleversomeday.wor.../2010/05/29/easy-emboss/
