I was wondering if anyone has tried to cut fondant or gumpaste out on a piece of parchment paper. For instance covering mat with crisco rolling the fondant out on parchment paper covered also in crisco and then sticking it to the mat and cutting. So that when its cut you can pick up the piece of parment cut with fondant up easily and place on cake without having to refreeze or have issues with the design getting messed up. This kinda reminds me how the regular cricut cuts vinyl. Im just thinking I got a cake to make tonight and I was trying to think a better way to pick up my cuts.

I have not tried to do this. I just use a mixture of 1/2 fondant, 1/2 gumpaste and cut this directly on the cake mat that has a very slight coating of crisco. Fondant will be too loose, and not dry out as quickly as gumpaste, so if you mix them together, roll out and then place on the slightly greased mat, it should cut out better. Are you rolling your fondant too thin?
