What is your challenge this week?

Mine is to:
1. finish 5 more page kits for the upcoming crop
2. print out the pictures for above kits
3. cut all the titles and embellishments

4. haul off the box of un-wanted books/magazines

Thanks Pat!

1. finish up the details left on the pink cards and package them up to give away.
2. Start getting the pictures off the old computer.
Since #2 will take forever, that's all for now.

Laurie & Paula, glad you found us. I hope Rhonda and Lizzy find us also.

Laurie good luck on the jobs. I hope you start to hear from places.
Paula, I was so glad all my pictures were already copied onto an external hd, but Geek Squad transferred them anyway.
When do you have to have the pink cards done. Are these for the auction baskets?

I found a really cute idea for a journal book cover on Pinterest today that I think I might do for some gifts. I have bunch of composition books I could use, but I am also going to see about small journal books in the $1 spot at M's.

I've been working on a title for a page all evening. I am brain dead.

Pat, the old computer is hooked up and running because DS is playing a game on it so it won't be too hard.
I am not sure what they are going to do with the cards, journals, bookmarks and wall hanging we made. I will turn them over to the person in charge of the support group. I told her to use them how ever they want. I haven't made a plan to turn them over but as soon as they are ready I will contact her.
The other things I made have been turned over. One auction was last Saturday and the next one is this Saturday.

Did you pin the journal you like? I will try to go see it. I haven't been on Pinterest for a long time.

Paula, I didn't re-pin the idea. A lot of things I see, I just make a note in a tablet I keep on my desk. I allow myself 30 minutes on Pinterest unless I am trying to find something specific. It is hard, because some of the blog sites are so full of fun things.
I will post a picture if/when I make one. I think I will go over to M's tomorrow.

I did go there and looked around. I actually got away!!! haha

It looks like we might go north next weekend. (17th) BIL and SIL are moving in to their new house and we are going to help. They tore down their cottage and built their dream "retirement" house. I am looking forward to seeing in completed.

My friend whose house burned down is still waiting for theirs to be finished. They are hoping for May.

Yes, indeed...I found our need home! In fact, it was the first one in the Challenge area. I went to the old one first to read the posts I hadn't read, then came over here.

Let's see...hmmmm...the temperature of the swimming pool is too cold for me, Rhonda. I need it to be in the 90's at least! Getting through those books, sounds like you made a huge accomplishment, Pat! Great going! As usual, Nancy, you have been productive. I'm glad you all enjoyed my students and their anti-writing antics. At least someone enjoyed it! LOL

Yes, I am less than three weeks away from my next break! I'm not quite close enough to begin counting the days. There are too many tasks to accomplish, too.

It is late tonight and I need to hit the hay. Sorry this is so short. I'll write more tomorrow.

Good morning ladies!

I am getting a little bit of an early start today. My Thursday hours people are going out of town so I can start early. We will see if I get out the door. haha

Tonight we have small group, other than that, nothing going on. How about everyone else?

Good morning all..

Paula, hope the house goes quickly today.

Lizzy, the pool water seems a bit cool at first but by the end of the session I am glad it is not any warmer as we really work up a sweat by the time the class is over. We did ask if they would warm it up a bit more but they said no.

Nancy, hope the balance of the cutting goes quickly and easy. Then you will be ready to assemble them at the crop.

My challenge for this week:

make card for sister in law
finish some tax paperwork
do the dusting in the living room and bedroom (ugh...I do not like to dust!)
work on another layout
do some family research

That should keep me busy!

good morning... it is quite windy here today, but is going up to 70ish, so that is do-able.

From my list, I am going to work just on the page kits today. Trying to take them one set at a time. I am not going to have the 20 that I hoped for, but I have some back up projects that I can work on if by some chance I finish all the page kits at the crop.

Rhonda, I hate dusting also. Seems like it accumulates faster than I can get it all. I think part of the problem is we probably need to have our duct work cleaned out. Maybe I will look into that.

I am off to M's to see about the little books, then back to get the scones baked. I soaked the raisins in Grand Marnier so they need to be made today. Pictures will be on FB later (hopefully).

Have a productive day everyone.

Good morning!!

Well I was wondering why I wasn't getting any emails and then I realized that we started a new thread.

My list

~ continue making all the cuts for the grad invites, I just need to cut the 2012 and I need to borrow my neighbors cart for that.

~ find some paper for the album I am putting Riley's senior pics in for his grad party. Decide how fancy I want to go with it.

~ cut paper for table tents

Laurie that is a lot of applications to do each day. You must have a lot of places around you to apply at.

Pat thanks for setting up our new home! I have quite a few of those comp books as well as the mini ones to make journals. I bought them when they were on sale for back to school but haven't made any yet.

Paula that will be nice to see the completed home! Will they live there full time now or have they not retired yet? I hope you got out the door early to get your house done!!

Lizzy I think I would be counting down! LOL

RHonda I don't like dusting either. It seems like it needs to be done all the time! WHat on your list are you working on tonight?

I was up about an hour earlier than normal today so I managed to get all my cuts except the year done for Riley's invites. That will just take me a few minutes once I get the cart again. I will wait until next week though since she is taking it on a retreat with her tomorrow...lucky girl! I also picked up my kitchen counter a bit.

Today at rest time I think I will see what papers I might use in Riley's senior pic album. I am thinking of just adding a little paper for some extra color but not going wild with it since I am really only doing it for his party so I don't want to spend too much time with it. I also need to make a plan for what I need to get when I do my errands on Saturday. I am doing them around my tax appointment. I need to get more pictures made for the invites too.

Good morning everyone!

Pat, are you making Drunken Raisin Scones today? Are you doing something special with the scone pics? I may have missed that. You probably got the wind we had yesterday. It's still a bit breezy here and we have rain this morning.

Lizzy, I believe you prefer a hot tub to a pool:) I don't like my pool water too cold but it's so refreshing when it's not too warm.

Nancy, I got up early this morning because we had a heating and cooling guy coming to fix our heat pump. I had to clean up the dishes from dinner last night and get a shower in before he got here. He was here right at 8.

Paula and Rhonda, I hope you are having a great day!

I've got to go register online with the KY and IN unemployment offices. You can set up your resume and search for jobs there. Then I think I will hit Pinterest for a while. I'm looking for some Art Journal ideas and outside gardening ideas.

Later!

Well, the house was super easy. I don't think they had been home much. I pretty much cleaned a clean house. They are gone until Tue. then they leave again Thur. I will be skipping next week's clean then clean the next Thur. which is when they come home. Another clean cleaning. Flapper

Nancy, they will live in the house, we will help them move in next weekend. They sold their house before they started building so they are very ready to get in. They used to spend the whole summer in their cottage so they are used to being up there. They do have about a half hour drive to church and work though.
You are really going to town on the grad party check list!! Did you decide to put pictures on the table tents? I don't remember.

Pat, once again your scones sound yummy!! You are busy today! Did you find your little books?

Katie wants to scrap her trip so we might make a trip to J's tomorrow. She has an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow morning and I am going to tag along. (she says she doesn't need anyone to go along but I want to (her mom is working)) So afterwards we will run to the store and maybe lunch.
Hopefully tomorrow she will get a date so we can plan from there. She wants to go spend a few days at the cottage alone if it her surgery isn't sceduled right away. (something she wanted to do last summer but it never worked out)

Laurie, I hope your job searching pans out. Have you thought of what you would like to do? What do you like? What interests you?
So, were you without heat? Did they get it fixed? You had an early start this morning!

Rhonda, it sounds like you are not alone in your dislike for dusting!!! Laugh Our house seems to get dusty in a day or two so it's dusty most of the time!!

Nothing like starting a new thread to get us making our lists again!! Woot

OK, off to get something done.

Good afternoon!

Laurie I bet you will get a lot done with your early start to the day.

Paula yes I am putting pictures on the table tents. I just need about 6 more pictures. Is there much to do at the cottage at this time of year? I think we always have our to do list we just never seem to put it in a list form on here! BigGrin

So I didn't get much of what I wanted to do. I spent my time looking through the ads for my Saturday trip into town and then scoured all the coupons as well as online coupons to bring with to get better deals. They have some good ones at Target right now with the Kellogg's products. Buy 5, get a $5 gift card. Add the coupons to that and it will make some of the products really cheap.

Hi friends! It felt like it was a crazy day...first I had a kid cheat on her journal writing which just turned me inside-out. Then, we were interrupted about 30 minutes before Language Arts ended to go get our photos taken. The rest of the day felt out of synch...oh well. I left work at 4:00 and got home by 5:00 having made a stop on the way. I took a cat nap while Terry was making dinner. I think I have to go to sleep early tonight, though, because I am getting too tired.

My to do list (by the end of Sunday):
--plan my next math topic
--plan my social studies project
--plan a project for idioms
--plan a project for multiple-meaning words
--plan a writing for response to literature
--grade some papers
--have Terry take some laundry upstairs so it can be put away
--work on more laundry once there is room in the laundry area
--move scrapbook stuff upstairs
--move large tub into garage and put quilts into it
--call this guy in Houston about working on Sarah's condo
--decide about working in April and taking time off in May
--decide about postponing trip to visit my mom until May and going to Houston instead

That's about it...it sounds overwhelming, but it really isn't too bad. I think much of the planning I have half-way done. Lots of the planning I do inside my head when I shower or drive and then I just have to get it down on paper. The rest of it, I just have to actually try it out on paper to see if it will work.

Well, ladies, I have to go. I am so incredibly tired tonight. I'll have to hit the hay earlier than ever tonight. I thought I could make it...but obviously I can't. G'night.

good evening... not a good day for progress. While I got the scones made and for photo purposes, they turned out great, I made a couple mistakes in the recipe and they turned out a little off. DD stopped by the house to drop off the air mattresses she had borrowed (God forbid she have my stuff cluttering up her house). She and I analyzed the scones right out of the oven and I will make them again sometime with the changes.
Laurie the scones are for an online magazine that a friend will be publishing. I need pictures and tested recipes. We also have another project we are working on together. That will be later in the year.

I didn't go to M's for the books. I realized that I will be in that shopping center tomorrow afternoon for hairapy, so it was a waste of my time to go there today.

Nancy, I am also getting 3 notifications for each post. Between the CFS threads and this one it adds up to a lot of emails in my inbox.
Paula, nice that the house went quick and easy. How is the picture transfer going?

My great niece turns one this month. I need to make her a card. Two of my BILs also have birthdays, as does Jim's Aunt. Maybe those should be on my list for tomorrow. Unsure

I am going to trim pictures for the rest of the evening I think. I also need to find some larger scraps of black paper for mats.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Good morning!

Lizzy A child cheated on her writing journal? That seems odd. I just wouldn't figure a journal would be something you would cheat on. Hopefully she learned her lesson and won't do it again. You do seem to have a really long list to get done by Sunday but if a lot of the plans are half way done then it won't be too bad. I hope you got a good nights rest.

Pat sorry your scones didn't turn out the way you hoped. When will you remake them? Will you remake them before they need to go into the magazines or is this one of your recipes you've made before so you know the recipe is a good one? HOw exciting to have them be in a online magazine! Good idea waiting to go to M's until you are over there. I made some extra cards one day using the coordinating card stock packs. Some of them had die cuts with them so it made it super simple. I love those packs for cards. The paper choices are nearly done you just have to figure out how to put them together! I should do that again. I liked having some choices when I needed my MIL's card. I hope you get your cards done quickly!

Laurie talking about cards made me think of your card challenges. I think I used all of those cards from the challenges. Do you have any card challenges brewing?

RHonda what have you been up to?

Talking about card makes me want to make some but I have to work. I suppose there is rest time, but I still have things to do that I didn't get done yesterday. They will wait though, a few extra cards in my stash won't hurt!

good morning....

Lizzy, how sad that the child felt she needed to cheat on her writing journal. With that and the photo disruption, now wonder you felt disjointed yesterday. I do hope you can get the lesson plans down on paper and our of you mind. Maybe that will help you fell less stressed. Have you made any decisions on the change in travel plans?

Nancy, maybe I need to look into those card packs. I seem to spend a lot of time deciding on papers. I have't bought too many paper packs. Hope you get all your tasks completed so you can get back to making some cards.

Pat, your scones always look so yummy! What was the flavor combination of the ones you used the marinated raisins with? Have fun at hairapy today!

Laurie, how is the job search coming along? Any exciting plans for you?

Paula, hope Katie gets good news today from her surgeon.

Yesterday I had hairapy at lunch time. Then after work I met with a local accountant to discuss maybe doing some work for her this summer. It will just be on an as-needed basis. But will be a great way to earn some extra money to put in my "fun money" stash.
Tonight is water class again. Not sure about the weekend. Tonight I will listen to the Lady Hornets in their first round tournament play. It is win or done time.

I did work on the paper work I need to get done, but ran out of black ink on my printerAngry so have to pick some up before I can get that task completed!

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Rhonda they are actually full 12 x 12 card stock paper packs. I guess I made it seem like they were card packs. Sorry. They are the ones that have PP and often solid and then die cut shapes and sometimes stickers. Although I am sure they make card kits too! I hope you HOrnets win tonight!!

good morning.. I had high hopes this morning of getting a few things done, but that went down hill at rapid speed due to a couple society emails. I think I am under control now, but it sure messed up the morning.

Lizzy, I can see how your day would get out of sorts. And, that is a very long list, but if you say it isn't as bad as it looks, then you should be ok. Cheating is just not good and the sooner kids realize it doesn't work, the better.

Nancy, I will remake the scones, with the recipe corrections. This was a recipe I found in a magazine that I re-did. It uses candied orange peel and golden raisins. It also has orange zest which I didn't have. Stephanie felt there was not enough orange flavor and suggested orange zest (not knowing it should have been added). For picture purposes, I am good to go with the one I took yesterday, but I will probably do another one just because.
I am very excited about the on-line magazine. It has been in the works for almost a year. This will be my friends second magazine publication.

I might be up for some card challenges if Laurie comes up with one. I need a few things I can work on at the crop that are quick.

Nancy, I don't know when you will pop in but I am trying to use CDS and I know you have done a lot with it.
Is it possible to remove part of a shape to make a new shape? We are combining two letters but there is a part that hangs over that we don't want. Can that be erased so it doesn't cut?

Thanks

Well, I think my students are not very happy with me...but the feelings are mutual. I am so very tired of them talking despite my telling them not to talk. I took away their bathroom sticks this afternoon and put them in the cupboard, at least for a week, until they can stop the excessive talking. There are certain times during the day that I do not want them to talk and ask them not to talk, but they ignore it. Anyway, thankfully, it's Friday and they have the entire weekend to get over it.

As for the cheating girl, she comes from a long line of children who misbehave, have nasty attitudes, who are disobedient, etc. She is merely following the long line of problematic youngsters in that family. The parents have little control over the kids. Fortunately, I found a classroom in which she can sit during her recesses and I don't have to deal with her getting up and playing instead of sitting on the bench. This will be much more punitive for her. I really don't have any expectations that she will reform because I believe it's too late for her.

Today was a less crazy day until the afternoon when we had a fundraising assembly which blew the afternoon apart. Oh well...I guess we gotta raise the money. Whatever! I've got to cover some ground in social studies on Monday and Wednesday. Then, I'm hoping we'll be ready to start our social studies project. That alone will likely bring me to my knees because of the writing component! LOL

Pat, your scones project sounds like it's very exciting! I've heard that scones are not all that difficult to make. Would you agree?

Rhonda, I hope you get the extra work with the accountant. That would be really nice to have some "fun money"!

Paula, I trust that Nancy will come in and help you with your Design Studio difficulties. I can't help you at all because I never used it.

Nancy, how's your weekend shaping up?

Well, friends, I'm going to say good night and do a few things before turning in.

Paula, have you installed CDS on your new computer? Pretty sure you can't just transfer it from the old one. I haven't put it on my new laptop yet, because I will need to call PC and get them to give me a code #. That is what I had to do a couple years ago when our desk top crashed so that it would work.
I hope you can figure something out.
Lizzy, this week has sure been wild for you. I hope you can relax a little (or a LOT) this weekend, and get some of the things off your list. It would be nice if your students could reflect on their behavior and come back Monday with more appropriate thinking. We can only hope.

Scones are much like biscuits. I wouldn't say they are hard to make, but they don't always turn out. Getting them slightly cakey, but still flakey can be tricky. What I can tell you is what they try to pass off as a scone in coffee shops are not what they should be.
I am very excited to be part of my friend's magazine. I think she will be using the tea cosies also, which will mean I need to work on some photo shoots for those.

Today was another downhill. I hope I can make up for it this weekend. Jim has a ton of office work to deal with, so we probably won't be going anywhere. OOOOOOOOh I did get some small journals at M's today. They were on sale .. 50c each. I hope my idea works. Ooooooh and I got a bit different haircut. Not too different, unless I use mousse to fluff it out. I am not sure how I will do.

Pat, I did not put CDS on the new computer. I will leave it on the old one and take that downstairs by my Cricut. I figure after we transfer the files we want, I will dump a bunch of junk and it will be fine to use for CDS.
I did get the project cut. As far as combining the two letters, we will just trim off the part that stuck out that we don't want.
As far as not being able to cut because it didn't reconize the cricut and all my files being lost...the computer was signed in under DH's account, not mine so my files didn't show up. When I signed in as me it had all my files and it cut without a problem.
Katie had doodled something on her arm that she really likes and asked what I thought of her getting it tatooed...I said...hey! why don't we cut it out of vinyl and you can put it on your bedroom wall, look at it awhile, and decide if you like it well enough to have it forever...haha. So it's cut and will probably get put on the wall tomorrow
Pat, your scone project really is pretty cool!! Something you like and are good at that you get to have some fun with!! Cool

Lizzy, you sure had a trying day!!! Sure glad it's friday!!!

Oh, I did get some pictures ordered from Walgreen's...like 350 or so. I will pick them up tomorrow and if I am ambitious, I will order more.

And I went with Katie to her surgeon appt. She has a cat scan in two weeks and surgery in about a month.

Paula, glad you figured out your problem. I misunderstood and thought it wasn't working on the new computer.
That was a lot of pictures you ordered. I still need to print more out. Maybe I can do that tomorrow.

I was going to get to bed early tonight, but decided to get all the society paperwork taken care of, so I am not faced with it tomorrow first thing.
Jim's aunt called earlier and we talked for a long time. She wanted to know if we were planning a visit anytime soon. I guess we better find a day (or 2) to go down to VA. hmmmmmm How can we squeeze that in.
