As part of my new year's resolution to save $$ I am trying to make as many layouts and cards using only supplies I have in my scrap room right now. I started the day after Christmas making a scrapbook for my niece (a friend was scrapping with me) and I so wanted to hit up the craft store but she convinced me to use everything I have at home. So my goal is to use up as much as I can without buying new. I hope to go til at least February....
If anyone wants to join me I would love the company and new ideas. Post your layouts here.
Thanks Beth

Hi - I will join in. I am trying to not buying any more paper until the summer... have way too much that I never use. I want to make a small album for my parents. My sisters and I are sending them on a cruise for their anniversary so thought they could put their pics in the album once they get back..

I will definitely join you! I was cleaning out my "craftroom" and I realized I have a lot of scraps and a lot of paper I haven't used so I will not be making a trip to hobby lobby anytime soon lol. I'm also starting my fourth semester of graduate school and have to save as much money as possible.

Well I forgot when I posted this that I am in a monthly scrappin club. We are required to spend $25 month. I usually budget $30 so I cover tax a few cents over....this month was my hostess month though. I tell you what I went way over budget.
I did limit though. Oh my oh my! But I do have to say that I have making myself stay out of the craft stores and spending more time at home actually scrappin.
Hope you guys are keeping on track!

I am in. I need to. I spend more time shopping and hardly any scrapping. My scrapbook room is over flowing. I placed an order today but I will make it the last. Which most of it was adhesive. I am wanting to make a baby book for a friend for her shower. I actually have almost a full pad of baby boy paper. This will be my first project. Wish me luck and I will keep you posted.

Who was scrappin this weekend??
I did! Super cold and snowy weekend. I got lots done too! I did about 8 layouts yesterday. All from old sets of paper just waiting to be used. Plus I sorted through bins of "projects" and cleaned the craft room. I tried to take pics of all my layouts to share but my camera doesnt have that great of quality.
How did everyone else do?

I am going to join you all in using up my stash. It may take awhile! I actually joined two swaps yesterday and made everything from the stuff I already owned. So, eight hours of creating and no money spent was exciting for me! I hope you are all staying strong and resisting the temptation to buy. Have a great day!

Great work!
I didnt get much time in the craft room this weekend at all. My bf is finishing the basement this week and my "new" craft room will get moved downstairs. My tasks were to help clean and pick out paint. I just cant decide what color I want the craft room. AGH! This is a major descion. Go bold? Or neutral and jazz it up with lots of my creations on the wall?

For the paint color for your craft room I would say go with CRICUT GREEN!
As for the challenge, I made 2 cards last week and used only my scrap paper (I keep paper until it is so small that it is around an 1" big! Anyway I made 2 complete cards out of scrap paper and only had to buy the envelopes!!! First cards by the way, even though they were scraplifted!

Check out the baby boy album I made out of complete leftovers and scraps. The only things I purchased for it was the album to put it in and adhesive. It is for a baby shower for a friend. I had the leftover baby boy paper pack from a calendar I made for my grandson's 1st year. I have posted it on the layouts forum. I uploaded all the pages and didn't want to overwhelm the board too much by posting twice. I did do one bad thing.....I joined a stamp club. I just couldn't help it and for an instant I forgot the challenge. I have done good tho. That is the only things I have purchased.

Well as long as you are scrappin a little treat once in awhile cant hurt right?!
I have been so busy with work I dont have a second at home to scrap. And my bf is remodeling so there is a overstock of his supplies in my scraproom. I am going insane waiting for this to be done. We are at the end of the stretch but the closer we get the longer it seems.
Good luck ladies would love to see some more projects.

I don't know how much scraps you guy's have but I have a rolling cart with 10 draws full to the point the draws won't open and a big box that I have to go through. I don't scrap but I make cards and treat boxes for my grandson's class for every holiday's. This year I vowed to use up my scraps. It's not going so well yet. I hope you ladies are doing better than I am. Edited by user Friday, May 11, 2012 7:22:44 AM(UTC)

Beth, This looks like a great idea. I'm new to the cricut community but not so new to the cricut. I've always used just the personal cricut and recently bought me an expression machine and loving it. I'm out in the boondocks where I live and the nearest craft store is at least a thirty minutes drive. So this could easily be done for me. I've had a ton of scrapbook pages for eons ago that I purchased. There is a few misc. things that I need to buy but other than embellesments I don't want to purchase anything other than cardstock. :) I'm looking for ideas to use with my heritage cartridge.. .anyone have any? Thanks.

Ok.. Ladies I will join you in the not shopping for new supplies and using what we already have in our craft room. I how ever will need to refill all my stickers makers first and my tape runner and all my glue dots sizes need to be replaced. so after that I will NOT buy another scrap thing this year. unless it is a book to put the layouts in. I do have a project for my aunt to do and I need poodle items so I might have to get a cartridge for my cricut that has dog stuff on it.....
I just got my cricut E2 for my birthday last month and I haven't gotten any cartridges so I think I might limit myself to 3 for the whole year.
good luck and enjoy scrapping.......

This is one challenge I am loving! I have so much paper and keep alot of scraps for card making as well. I got a gc for Michael's so I was able to buy some solid white, black and plain color cardstock. I don't need any patterned or specialty paper for 5 years! Only thing I may need are glue dots. So far this month I have used a bunch of my stash.. With this Cricut it is really easy to use lots of paper..... I don't think I have ever used this much paper this fast in all my scrapping years. I even figured out how to make shaped cards.

I have so much paper that I will never use, I did come up with an idea though... I had a small gift to wrap and thought why not use a sheet out of one of my pads? It looked nice!!

I'm also new to Cricut and am trying to save money too. Like many of you I have tons of paper and am working on several books at once, we'll see how long I last.
