Ok, this will be my first cricut. I am eagerly awaiting its delivery today. I bought three cartridges to use with it and want to know if they will be able to plug into the mini directly or if I will need to do something else to use them. Any ideas?

You need to use CricutCraftRoom to set your cuts and then plug the cart into the Mini when prompted (or link the cart to your CCR account). The Mini will be compatible with the Gypsy, in a future update.
While the Mini does have a cart port, it doesn't have the keypad or internal workings to read the cart without CCR (or a Gypsy).

Mine arrived today! it's so cool! I have 2 cartridges here, plus one on it's way and a rain check from A.C.Moore for 2 more (yep, I've been busy this past week  ) I also redeemed my 3D ornaments certificate, but I'm having problems redeeming my Font and Basic Shapes certificate (getting an error message) and I also can't register my Cricut Mini online, 'cuz that model doesn't appear in the list on the registration page (already sent a message about those 2 issues). Ah well, it's a brand new machine, so I guess this isn't totally unexpected. I did manage to do a sample cut to make sure all worked as expected. All in all, I'm thrilled that I have my new toy (wasn't expecting it until around the 28th).

Congrats on your new toy Ron!
I had the same problem when trying to redeem the 3D one. Told me 7000200 quantity of 1 thing. I had to call and get a new code. You will probably have to do the same.
So what carts did you purchase???
Have fun playing. This is my 3rd machine. It's addicting!
