Has anyone ever tried cutting contact paper for glass etching instead of vinyl?

I etched a whole set of plates, bowls and wine glasses for my daughter last year with Mickey Mouse heads on them using clear contact paper got at Wally World or dollar store. It worked fine, and cheaper. Just like vinyl, have to make sure edges are down tight.
The hurricane lanterns are beautiful. Great job. Round things are not so easy.

Oh those are just awesome! Best project I have seen with that cart - and I don't have the cart!
Yes, you can use contact paper for etching. It is much cheaper than the vinyl.

I got the hurricane lamps at Crafts 2000. I am not sure about the size, I just wanted something that was the same circumference from top to bottom so I could get a nice stencil adhered. Oh and I said in my post that I used Word Collage cartridge for those that wanted that info too. It was real easy with awesome results. Good Luck!
