Been playing around first time w/markers on Cricut. Found a way to use Sharpie Mini's by applying velcro around one and it worked! I checked at Staples for the mini's, dollar store and finally found them by chance on a trip to Lowe's. 4 colors to a pak for $3.79, black, green, blue & red primary. Maybe someone has already figured another way to keep them stable in the mechanism but the rubber bands did not work for me. Gel mini's leaked and will be returned. I guess I'm just being too frugal to go out and buy the Cricut markers ;) Edited by user Saturday, August 27, 2011 12:35:01 PM(UTC)

Google a blog called Chomas Creations in case you don't know about it. (Sorry, I don't know the exact address) This girl has come up with "housings" for the mini gel pens and mini sharpies as well as an engraving tip. Check out her blog. I ordered them and they work great, however, they are a little pricey. The cricut markers tips are really fat and I was not happy with them and one pack I bought was dried out before I even used them! This option gives you nice fine lines and can be used with the mini gel pens and mini glitter pens and mini sharpies from Staples. Good Luck!

Sorry bcass, just saw this. Sharpies are meant for glossy surfaces (they are permanent markers and won't smear) like vinyl, glossy cardstock, metal sheets, transparencies, etc. Sharpies bleed into cardstock. The Cricut machine starts and stops, too fast for us to see, but just that tiny amount of time allows the Sharpie to bleed, making those dots you are seeing.
